That's a good point too, you wouldn't want his career derailed by concussions, or other type of injuries because he kept getting hit as a 19 year old.
We've seen how difficult it can be for a guy like Pelletier going through all the rehab. Similarly with Zary.
I keep bringing up Bouchard, because he was sent back to junior, then the AHL for a year, before slowly transitioning to the NHL. And as much as I enjoy his defensive gaffs, I don't think his play suffered form one more year in junior.

Terrible brand of hockey, leaning on declining vets, scratching the best young players
These roster decisions are bad for business, on top of being bad for development.
Getting pretty fed up, not going to lie.
It does feel like an inexperienced gm and an inexperienced as well as stubborn coach are running the show lately.
The only silver lining comes in 7 months.

I thought you didn’t believe in advanced stats?
Or is that only when those stats don’t align with your opinion?

Parekh has played with the most offensive starts, and against the lowest quality of competition on the team. Which suggests that Huska attempted to shelter him pretty heavily. At times which I have seen him against the opposing top 2 lines he seemed to struggle, and seemed a bit lost in the D zone.
Go Flames!

Yup, heavily sheltered, which is why I don't care about the stats. In more challenging or dangerous situations, he has struggled. Again, no surprise, and I'm not worried.
But believing that he has been great is just crazy, IMO

To be fair, the same logic is applied by Huska's fanclub on this site.
It's one biased view versus another constantly seeking confirmation of pre-established views.

Bean, Weegar, and Andersson can't be sent back to junior to develop, Parekh can.
Again, this isn't about icing the best roster right now because the team needs a better chance to win right now, it's about developing the prospect the best way possible. Comparing him to veterans is pointless when quite honestly, none of the players mentioned are playing well. Parekh has the excuse of being a rookie right out of junior, that's the only difference.

I don't see a lot of people claiming Huska is an amazing coach. You've got a couple posters who hate him, everything he does and give him no credit for last season's success.
You've got others who suggest he played a role in last year's success along with several other factors, including goaltending. And a lot of those people also don't believe Huska is likely going to be the coach when this team is ready to win, or that he is even an elite coach today. But he is also not a bad coach. And I challenge if the Flames could bring in a coach who is clearly better. As I've mentioned, this isn't a compelling place to coach: lack of talent, no star players, a bad building, and a franchise that has established a pattern of firing coaches every 2 years. Who is going to sign up for that?
All that is separate from my point which is Rhett picks and chooses what information he uses to confirm his biases, and will even go as far to make things up.

He has nothing left to prove in this league, he wont develop further against kids. The same knock that most have against him wont be solved playing kids younger and smaller than him.

Yeah, I'm not sure parekh comes back next camp better positioned after 3/4 of a season back playing against teenagers.
Its more of a tactic for restored confidence and motivation than actual developmental progress.
Just stop ####ing around and handling him like a faulty grenade.
Give him consistent reps in one spot (third pairing) like how Honzek has been utilized.
Mistakes will occur, and they must brave through it.

Yeah, there's certainly an argument for not letting a contract year slide and allowing the player to get to his second contract before he has really established himself.
If Parekh's deal doesn't slide this year, he'd be eligible to sign his next contract as early as the summer of 2027. If it doesn't slide this year, you'll end up paying more for 2028-29, but potentially a lot less for the four or five years after that on a long-term deal.
I think there are two valid arguments for sending him back to junior... - This is not a great year for the team and it might be a pretty negative experience for him to be in the room until the trades start happening.
- He could benefit from some more physical development. He has taken some big hits already this season. Even though he doesn't have anything more to prove at the junior level, he could get sent down to focus on adding some bulk to his frame without also playing the travel-heavy NHL schedule.
I don't think there needs to be any rush though. I'd wait until around the World Juniors, depending on where things are, let him play there and then make the decision on sending him down at that point.
