Also, think about the US pre-owned market. www.autotrader.com and www.cars.com is a start..as is ebay motors to get a quick glance at prices in general.
Something 2 or 3 years old would still be under warranty/sold at a dealer and less of a question mark.
$30K US = $33K CDN. I've been looking recently..a multitude of preowned vehicles that can be had for sub $30K USD in the US, are typically close to or over $40K here.
If its an import (ie not physicaly built in the uS/CAN/Mex, no matter the brand) tack on 6% more. GST would apply here through a dealer, or at the border. Shipping..$1K if you're not able to drive it up.
Just takes a bit more leg work and patience, but you come out getting more car for your $$ in the end.

For sure, the new ones will look HOT.
Actually if you want to wait a year, wait for a used Audi A5!

True, and lots of cars have transferrable warranties. But not all do. Infiniti is ok though the dealership here told me they put US importers at the bottom of their pile quite often ( ), Audi is fine as is Subaru. Honda doesn't AFAIK.

Honda most definately does NOT transfer the warranty across the border - in either direction.
Toyota/Lexus will transfer if the vehicle is used, and has been titled in the US for at least 6 months by a US resident.

Anyone know offhand what GM's policy is? Can't get a solid answer by searching around.
I'm fairly certain Cadillac's Certified Progam wouldn't transfer up here, but what about the inital manufacturer's warranty, for Cadillac or GM in general?

Too bad they don't offer them here but in Japan they offer a Honda Accord Type R Hatchback! My friend in HK imported one in. It looks awesome and is super fun to drive. I guess it would be like a TSX hatchback here.

Man, now I'm torn.. I was thinking G35 coupe, but I kind of like the 2007 sedans more. But I can almost get an Audi S4 for that, there's some on autotrader.com for under 40k US! EDIT: 2006 S4's, I don't like the 2005 and earlier ones.

I was looking at the '07 G35 Sport M6 yesterday. With almost every option, it had a US MSRP of $39,145 and a Cdn MSRP of $53,430. Of course, US dealers move a long ways from the MSRP. The Cdn Subaru dealer I was trying to deal with (on a Subaru) didnt move hardly at all from MSRP.

Yeah, crazy eh? I test drove one last week, and I really like them! Powerful but still a nice ride for a daily driver.

You should be able to get a G35 for cheap once the G37 comes out.

Yeah that's true. And that's another disadvantage of the G35, the G37 is nicer IMO:
The other thing with the Audi S4 is the fuel economy. Sites are saying 14-15mpg city! Yikes.

Yes yes. Plus you get a hole .2 more displacement.... G35 = 3.5 litre, G37 = 3.7 litre.
IMO they should keep the same chasis for the GT-R and the GTS, GTS-4, GTS-T models like they did for all the Skyline models before. Oh well. I guess it makes the GT-R more desireable if they change the chasis model.

Why don't you get a vette? Could get a really nice c5 for $35K. Alot of these listed are in american funds but they are one of the easiest cars to import due to the fact the speedo functions in both MPH and KPH with the push of a button. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zeroforum?id=52
I'd get an 02-04 Z06

Only .2L, but from 298HP to 330HP

There is a new MB C-Class out next month. C300 Sport will be $40k.. the C230 will be out later in the fall and will likely be in the $37k range
S4 is a ton of fun but will use a bunch of fuel depending on how you drive it.. the new G37 is a great looking car as well.

I too was going to suggest a Vette... but I guessed he wanted a daily driver to drive all year round.
A couple of months ago, I saw a C6 Vette on a US dealer website. It was an old stock 2006 Coupe; the kicker was that it was only $41K US new. I didnt call to see if it was legit or not though, but it seemed to be.

Really now? Is it a new platform? The car looks pretty nice actually.
EDIT: How does this compare size-wise? The 3 series BMWs are a bit small.

Nice! How much would the C350 4matic be about? I assume since it's brand new there'll be very little movement off of MSRP?
