I will be collecting up until ~4 pm this Saturday, as Calgary sheets need to be turned in by 5 pm so they can be transported to Edmonton the next day.

They're estimating the 300,000 number has to be exceeded by +10% to account for attrition.

While last weekend was my official "final event," I still have my sheets and my badge until I also turn it in on Saturday. If anyone in the NE hasn't signed yet and wants to, let me know!

I have 342,738 in the pool.

Just turned in my badge and signatures today. My goal was 150; got 711.

Imagine the number of signatures exceeds the number of votes in the Calgary municipal election. Only 349,815 to beat.

Default Forever Canadian Petition Support (Alberta Politics)

Thanks to all of you who volunteered to collect signatures and to those who signed.

We signed yesterday (talk about leaving it to the last moment) with a lovely older lady who was so kind and upbeat. She had a table setup with a Canadian flag on the front, which was flapping away in the very strong winds.

Very proud of everyone!

The petitions are being delivered to Elections Alberta Tuesday morning. I hope there are lots of photos/ video. I helped gather signed petitions from canvassers in September and remember thinking we had a lot, but it was actually a small number. The paper involved for all the sheets must be massive!

Wow. I hoped the number would be that big but I am still blown away by that.

The UCP and separatists have to be looking at that number and wondering if they maybe poked a bear bigger than they can handle.

With this being a Legislative or Policy petition, this likely means that the UCP are now going to have to discuss the petition in the house, send it to committee and review the findings of the committee. It locks up the topic for months and blocks the other question from going anywhere.

So Canadian "patriots" want to separate from Canada?

I know these dopes are walking contradictions, but how do they rationalize that to themselves?

I had this exact thought over the weekend. What did they do with all their Canada flags?

Probably all on the Blue Jays bandwagon too. Hypocrites.

Yup. And as I understand it, assuming the count is validated the UCP have to either have a vote in the house to accept the premise of the question "Alberta should remain in Canada" or send it to a referendum at the next election.

Absolutely incredible to get almost half a million signatures. Sure, some will be invalidated but that leaves so much room to clear the (very high) threshold. Go #### yourselves separatists.

Yes, Lukaszuk has essentially pulled the pin on a political hand grenade and handed it to the UCP.

Imagine them considering a vote on this question as multiple recall processes kick off to remove them from office.
