And the winner of the bad dragon is Gladys (Gladys proceeds to take 5 minutes to scoot her walker with the tennis balls on the feet up to the front where she brings home her football sized marital aid).

I hate being cynical. Cynicism is the most worthless trait a person can have, and I hate that it's my default. My kids and wife are the opposite, and I love that about them.

Remember when people used to convert their vehicles to run on biodiesel and collected fryer oil, and the press was all over these stories for years about how it's part of the future of green energy, and then it just all kinda went away? Wild times.

Y'all gotta love it.
It is great on toast and a Marmite & Cheese sandwich (strong cheddar cheese) is the bomb.
I also utilize it in other ways, I put it in my Cottage Pie and my Stew, it really adds the richness of the flavour.

There was a mechanic shop that had one for running parts, it always smelled like french fries when it drove by.

People still use it, but instead of converting single engines to directly handle waste oil, they just process it to produce biodiesel that a lot diesel engines can run off of. I know someone with a VW TDI who pretty much exclusively uses B100 biodiesel.

You don't hear about Oswaldo the aging hippy doing this anymore because it's being done on an industrial scale now. Used fryer oil is a tradeable commodity that is picked up from restaurants, and its converted to diesel fuel that can be used on a drop in basis. So nobody even notices it, because it uses the exact same supply chain as the regular diesel fuel.
It can also be made into aviation fuel, and there has been some funny business around that lately (greenwashing in an amusing way). See: https://archive.ph/ZrZFU

Toast with marmite and the strongest cheddar you can find to mask the marmite taste.

How come when it comes to beef, steaks are more expensive the fattier they are but ground beef is more expensive the leaner it is.

I've wondered about this before. I think because fat is waste product in one scenario (reduction of final solids for ground beef) and not waste product in the other scenario (flavor/texture for higher marbled meat).
Fat is expected to be rendered out when cooking ground beef, but not for steaks.
Steaks are also a slab of a specific section of a cow vs ground beef is odds and ends. Steaks by pound are rarer than ground beef in a cow.

I think its because the fat in steaks and that in ground beef isn't really the same thing.
Intramuscular fat adds flavour as it renders during cooking. So cuts with more intramuscular/marbling cost more money.
There is lots of "extra" fat surrounding the different muscles of a cow. If you buy a whole packer of anything its surrounded by fat. Ground beef tends to be made out of the tougher/leaner/cheaper cuts (the ones without nice marbling that sell as steaks). So the "lean" is the base product, and the "regular" has a bunch of the extra fat from elsewhere mixed in.
If you add a bunch of filler to a product you can make the product cheaper.

Ground beef can also be trimmings from higher end cuts. Instead of waste, it goes into the grinder.
