The team should focus on evaluating young players in the major league to identify those who should be retained and those who should be traded. Otherwise, with many younger players in colleges and other leagues, and new draftees on the way, the roster could quickly become overcrowded.

Our current defensive players, Beans, Pachal, and Hanley, are strong defensively but contribute little to our offense. So I hope the team gives more games to Bru, Solo, Morin, and Kuznetsov to check if they can contribute more.

We also have few good but smaller forwards, including Morton, Hunt, Kerins, and Basha, in addition to Zary, Coronato, and Frost already on the team. We can't keep all of them, so we should try to keep the players we truly need and leverage the others in trades.

Kerins has been very impressive. Honzek has been just OK.

And someone like Dryden Hunt, we already know what he is.

I would personally start the year with Kerins, Bru and Parekh on the Flames main roster.
I think Very Impressive is an exaggeration. Kerins is good with the puck, but without it he still has a lot of trouble. Specifically winning 50/50 puck battles. Hockey is still a sport played against the boards and Kerins brings nothing on hat part of the ice.

Same with Morton, not the sexiest pick to make the team, but he plays a pro calibre game.

Smaller forwards lol. Only Kerins and Coronato are shorter than Farabee, and all except Zary are heavier.

The improvement in Kerins' skating is very noticeable, similar to Coronato's improvement. At the same time, it does make me a little disappointed that Zary didn't improve his speed over this summer. I love the player, and he had improved his speed last year, but it remains average, at best.

Tough game to play in. Carter was happy to have had the experience of it but wished he could have shown more. I thought he had some strong board play in the first to try and help out a D corps that were having a tough time. Limited minutes later on. All in all, a decent showing. The positive is that I don't think he's been on the ice for a goal against in his three games. Would love to see him given another try now that he's had the experience.

Tough to make this team out of camp, but yeah I hope he gets more chances.

If he goes to the Wranglers there will be lots of opportunity this year. There will be trades (vets out) and old guys will get injuries.

Yeah I feel like he didn’t have much of a chance to show a lot. Wonder what his icetime was.

Honzek is looking like he needs more AHL time. He doesn't seem to know how to use that extra weight he put on, and maybe he has even lost a step in his skating. I hope he runs with it and forces the Flames to make him the first forward call-up. Maybe then he will stick with the big club, much like Coronato did last season.

To be fair, I think all of our young skilled guys are doing the same. With the obvious exception of Parekh. They all look like they need a bit more time in the minors before they make the big show full-time. Sam has shown flashes, but the other guys look a little bit, lost and overwhelmed out there when they are facing off against actual NHLers.

It seems to always be a thing for the flames that the guys they draft or sign as role players and bottom six players are always the ones that come to camp ready to show what they’ve got. This year is no different. The guys that have been most impressive are guys like Hunt and Morton. It’s a little sad regarding the skilled guys, but I’m happy for these role players.
