Facebook is an absolute sewer, it's become repulsive with MAGA type people screaming racist crap and huge amount of fake videos. Then there are the posts masquerading as news stories, completely incorrect and misleading garbage. Most depressing are the comments full of idiots getting sucked in and believing all of it.

I haven't posted anything on there in over 10 years but keep it for Marketplace and to scroll through once in a while out of morbid curiosity. It's disgusting.

People post outrageous lies like crime being up 50% and others believe it without question and blame immigrants for everything.

I still use Facebook, but I rarely post anything on there unless I’m on vacation and I want to post a bunch of photos for friends/family, etc..

I’ve also managed to filter it so that I’m not getting any political or Trump/MAGA crap. My feed consists mostly of movies, music, travel, nature, books, and other stuff that makes me happy. I’ve also unfriended/unfollowed anyone who suddenly outed themselves as racist far-right sacks of s***, so that’s helped filter it out as well.

My facebook was pretty free of politics as well, mostly just stuff about my various hobbies. That definitely changed after the Kirk shooting though where I was inundated with all sorts of crap.

Since the Jimmy Kimmel thing is entertainment related, I definitely got some of that in my feed. And one of my longtime friends who I’ve known since my Calgary days outed herself as a Maple MAGA, so I had to unfriend her and cut her out of my life. It was disturbing and sad seeing how much she and her husband had been brainwashed.

I didn't know who Kirk, Van Jones or this Nick guy were before all of this went down.

That's because I don't really listen to influencers. That's who they all are, just political influencers, hauking their wares for money and fame, just like all of the other influencers. It's just amazing to me that all of them are so deified.

I have never heard of Van Jones, until Fonz just posted about him, and the tone seemed to think that I should know such an important figure.

I deleted Facebook over a decade ago and just recently deactivated instagram. I have new facebook account that I use specifically for messenger for family members and for marketplace.
