Naa, I see it for what it is - Trump's corporate cronies are appeasing him. There isn't much question about that. I'm not losing sleep over Kimmel though. I explained why, that's it. Again, sucks he got cancelled over politics rather than boring jokes, but I'm not losing any sleep because his jokes were mid.

“I didn’t find him funny” is a crazy low bar for being OK with that level of censorship though.

… this is painful.
Nobody is losing sleep over losing his jokes. The item to lose sleep over is the federal government making this happen because they didn’t like what he said. To keep bringing up “oh well he sucked anyway” is super weird… it sounds like justification, and it’s useless to the discussion.

I wrote that I disagreed with Trump. Not sure what more to say. But there are nitpickers, and those who believe what they want to believe. I have nothing more to add. It's a silly situation.

But you are ok with this since Jimmy Kimmel is terrible in your opinion. You don't see why people are mocking you for this?

I said it sucks that he was cancelled over politics. Those reading into it much more are making their own narrative. They're crazy. I said he sucked as a comedian and that he should be cancelled for that because his jokes were stale. I don't know what else to say. The crazies going to be crazy.

That's a weird way to spell fascism.

It's not silly. It's dangerous and smacks of fascism.

If they’re canned, is that fascism, or not?

You can sneer all you want, but controlling media is an aspect of fascism. Everything Trump is doing has been done before by fascists. It's been studied and discussed over and over.
The "enemy within" speeches, the isolation of particular groups as enemies of the state, the failed coup, the expansionist rhetoric, the rhetoric that the country is no longer great and will be made so again, the nationalism, the use of military in domestic affairs, the direct and indirect control of media. All of those are fascist tools and methods.

Guys, read what I wrote again. I don't advocate for Trump, or Kimmel. I dislike both, because both aren't good at what they are supposed to do. There is no playing dumb. Those making a mountain of a molehill are creating their own narrative about what I didn't say:

You wrote " it sucks he got canceled over politics" and this is " a silly situation"
There is no molehill. Getting canceled over politics and the specific way it happened is a very dangerous precedent that has its roots in fascist ideology. By calling it a silly situation, you are downplaying the obvious intent of the government to silence critics.
The issue isn't as much that people are making a mountain out of a molehill - its that we feel you are making a molehill out of a mountain. And if you read a history book you'll see where that kind of complacency leads when dealing with fascists.

The "silly situation" I was referring to are those making up a narrative of what I said. I don't know what else to say so I'll leave it at what I already said. Nothing more to add aside from saying those creating a buzz are crazy. Nobody here is changing anyone's views. To create drama and a stir is wild.
