I’ve been a loyal member of this community for years.
I don’t believe moderators are doing their job moderating the US Politics thread. Posters are actively advocating that the recent killing of a human in the United States is justified.
One poster in general, “dissentowner” said the shooter did “the world a favour”
This is highly inappropriate and that thread needs to be locked or that poster needs to be banned.
This goes against rule #5 that this forum has.

I just listened to a bunch of Kirk’s stuff so I can’t be accused of taking him “out of context.” He’s just a televangelist in different packaging.
Reminds me of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. There’s no discussion or debate; they just bulldoze the conversation till you give in or tell them to screw off.
Now a friend of mine (not for much longer) in South Carolina is on a big mission to have a Clemson University professor fired for comments about Kirk. All the professor said was that Kirk died by his own beliefs.

My 2 cents on this is that regardless of how awful of a person anyone may have considered him to be, him being murdered was not a good thing and shouldn’t be celebrated.
I don't agree.
As long as Charlie Kirk had a platform, someone somewhere was going to die because of far-right violence. The only real question was "who?"
"Charlie Kirk himself" is by far the best answer that question.
There is no reality where someone like him has a platform and no one is attacked by the far-right lunatics inspired by him and people like him being allowed a platform, which is why free-speech absolutism is a fundamentally amoral position.
Sure, in a perfect world he would have been de-platformed and/or put in jail, but that's not the world we live in, and in this world him dying at the hands of another far-right wacko is a good thing.
(It also will likely spread fear and suspicion inside the far-right, which is good.)

Trump confused Armenia with Albania in his fox interview yesterday, saying he ended the war between Azerbaijan and Albania.
The actual conflict was between Azerbaijan and Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh, not involving Albania.
There’s a lot of real excellent Charlie Kirk content out there. I really recommend going down the rabbit hole and watching his clips if you’ve never done so.

is excellent content.
You can see him resort to every logical fallacy known to mankind. In fact there's another video on youtube that actually breaks down, one by one, every logical fallacy he got caught using.
It's a masterclass in identifying a bad debater who resorts to disinformation, appeals to emotion, ad hominems, goalpost shifting... all of it, versus a master debater who is post-secondary educated and willing to bring facts to the table. He even calls her out for checking her phone for facts, as if checking your phone for facts in a debate is somehow a bad thing.
It was to him, because facts were what he hated most as a Nazi propaganda professional.

I can understand people hating what he stood for and to some degree even them being relieved that his ability to spread his message has been taken away. But pretending that this is any sort of a “win” is absurd. In my view this will only lead to further division, hatred and an escalation in political violence.
That having been said, all of the parties who have actively participated in and contributed to stoking the fire of the current state of political division in the world whether it be politicians, celebrities or the media all coming out and denouncing what happened is one of the most hypocritical things I’ve seen in my life. In most cases they are doing so while continuing to create further division which is absolutely deplorable. What did all these idiots expect to happen as a result of brainwashing people into thinking that everyone falls on one side or the other in the political spectrum and that the side you’re not on is evil by default?
