So with them now announcing they're clamping down on speech by not letting in any foreigners that make light of Kirk's death, and demanding social media ban users that do it, how long until they intentionally fan this into starting civil unrest to use it as an excuse to invade another city, then delay the 2026 midterms?

And of course, a nice distraction from the fact that Trump is a rapist and a pedophile that the US government is actively protecting

Where are all the “killed for having a different opinion!” people now? Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband didn’t get this kind of respect. Two politicians were recently gunned down and mocked and completely downplayed by sitting senators and elected officials and the rest of MAGA; but the same for Kirk crosses the line?

Same when Paul Pelosi was kidnapped and nearly bludgeoned to death, even Trump mocked that one, and in fact Kirk was the one that said that somebody should pay the attacker’s bail and set him free.

That’s all funny and can be dismissed in an instant. Nothing to care about.

But this? No. This must be dwelled on. Milked for all it’s worth. Used as a pretext for McCarthyism. More authoritarianism. More Fascism. 'The left' can't keep getting away with this!

I think you've perfectly encapsulated the problem with the American view on free speech. Freedom of expression is not the same as freedom from consequences. There are laws regarding liable, slander, that's and intimidation. This man used speech that leaned into all of those areas, attacking Manny groups of people. The fact that there wasnt a robust check on his ability to yell terrible things over the sound of thousands of other voices and did not face repercussions is the cause of this. This isn't a care of oppressing speech, this is free speech out of control.

And it's would be real rich for the party of book banning, the party of Mr lawsuit to wine about free speech issues, since he is actively using the courts to oppress the speech of so many

The fact that is sadly that the Republican party faithful are more enraged about this than they were about every single school shooting and mass shooting in that ####hole country. This being used as an excuse to attempt to rescind civil rights is ironic and yet somehow fitting for the way that a bigot like Kirk lived his short and ignorant life.

It is sad for his family that he died but as others have pointed out, he spent his entire existence kicking a hornets nest and no one should be shocked that he was stung.
