1x CHL Goalie of the Year (2020)
2X AHL Goalie of the Year (2022, 2023)
1x AHL MVP (2023)
NHL All-Rookie Team (2025)
Calder Runner Up (2025)

The organization has 6 years of seeing him in the organization now, and he's been pretty good at every level.

Of course some risk involved, but this contract isn't based on just his one year in the NHL for sure.

Yes, exactly the points that I think me and EE were making. No team would be handing this contract out to a flash in the pan goalie that has only shown one solid year. This deal is based on last year affirming what his trajectory has thus far showed, and I believe it will be a great bet long-term.

I am just betting that many fan bases who haven't tracked Wolf's progression probably think it is an overpay by the Flames in an attempt to retain players.

I love the fact he has embraced Calgary as his home and this solidifies it.

Always out in the community, at the Stampede, around in the summer.

in 8 years when this contract expires 7.5 M is likely to be replacement level player money.

Not sure about replacement level @7.5, but yes, mid-level starter will probably be higher than this even halfway through his deal. If he ends up as a top 10 (or better) starter in the league, this will be a really nice bargain.

Wow. That’s a stunningly good deal for the flames. Wolfie gets his bag too, this is fantastic news.

Unreal coups to get that guy signed for 8 years under market for the majority of the deal. This is akin to the Jack Hughes deal in my.mind. Momentous day!

Conman tying up loose ends. Wonder how much capspace that’s leaves us with go forward. I bet he will use it next year on some free agent scoring horsepower.

Super happy with this deal, it's gonna be a massive steal for the majority of that contract.

Wolf is not just a winner but he's also one of those guys you just want to see succeed. Gonna be fun watching him for the next 8 years (and hopefully beyond)

Phenomenal deal! Gotta love Conroy's faith in signing young talent to longer, potentially bargain deals. That's the kind of calculated risk taking that contenders are built on.

Oh and for the doomer "US players won't sign in Calgary" crowd, Wolf and the Bison send their regards

There have been a couple of themes with Craig Conroy when signing contracts: One, he signs them a year early. Two, he is willing to sign big contracts after one good season.

Normally I am not a fan. I am good with it in this case though. Even if Wolf is just average this contract will be manageable. There is always a risk that Wolf falls off, but this is a good gamble.

This and the Coronato contracts where great.

Almost $30 million in cap space right now for next year with 3F, 3D, and a backup to sign. I wouldn't say we can go crazy next year but we have lots of flexibility to make moves and certainly could make a big splash if we wanted to.

This is great!

Now I just have to figure out how to let my young kids be huge Wolf fans without turning them into goalies...

This is now the fourth 5+ year deal Conroy has signed.

Sharangovich, Coronato, Bahl and now Wolf.

Like any GM, he will be graded with the benefit of hindsight. Hopefully all 4 can outperform their contracts this year, would definitely help make them a playoff contender.

For a team like the Flames, it's better to take your swings at guys in this age range. Draft well and build a culture where these guys will sign these deals.

Glad to have Wolf under contract for the next 8 years.

has the potential to be one of the best goalies in the league during this deal, which will be bad for our draft position

F'n eh. Absolutely love the deal. Thought he'd push the 8.5 mark, which I would be totally comfortable with.
