It's quite the commitment based off one season's work but given Wolf's history of success at every level and the rising salary cap, it's a good bet to place.

If you track his development, this is a very good long term bet.
I think the organization and his agent realize the body of work is much more than one year though.
Since he entered the organization in 2019.
2X WHL Goalie of the Year (2020, 2021)
1x CHL Goalie of the Year (2020)
2X AHL Goalie of the Year (2022, 2023)
1x AHL MVP (2023)
NHL All-Rookie Team (2025)
Calder Runner Up (2025)
The organization has 6 years of seeing him in the organization now, and he's been pretty good at every level.
Of course some risk involved, but this contract isn't based on just his one year in the NHL for sure.

Well worth every penny. Great deal for both parties. If it wasn't obvious before now, we have the "franchise goalie" box checked on the rebui....retoo....re-whatever. The new team.

Connie was on the fan, he mentioned originally this was a 6 year deal and then Dustin and his rep came back and said we want to make it a 7 year deal. Love the kid!

Excellent. That's gonna be a bargain before you know it. All Dustin Wolf has ever done at every level of hockey is win games and put up video game numbers. Perfectly happy with this deal.

Come on, he hardly had video game numbers in his first full NHL season.
This contract is already a steal as the cap is projected to be $104M and this contract kicks in next year. That is under $7M under the current salary cap.
This deal plus Coronato's deal are both steals. Add Weegar who has one of the top value contracts in the league, this team is set up to add a superstar.
It would be nice to add one via the draft, but if we continue to build assets we can trade for one too.

Yes, thank you for this. This isn't a "flash in the pan" guy like Jim Carey (1 r not two like the actor). This guy has shown that after a brief adjustment period, he will quickly become one of the top 3 goalies in any league he's in, often the very best in the league. It's a safe bet when a guy shows progression like that and is only 24.

Absolutely love what Connie is doing with this team. He's building a really talented young roster / prospect base, signing extremely reasonable deals, and making the vets who want to be here part of building us into a contending franchise. Such a refreshing GM to have.

There is still no franchise quality forward, but he's on the right track for sure. Need 1-2 disastrous seasons or draft luck

Wolf's been pretty honest and truthful about his love for Calgary and the fact they were willing to give him a shot.
This is a kid who wants to be here, which is exactly what this team needs.
I said a while ago that both him and Matt we're working on extensions to stay here long term, these are the young cornerstone pieces you build around and I fully expect Parekh to be added to that.
