I just want to say that several years after the fact, I still think that Donald Trump is smarter than anyone else on CP. I don't think this is a good thing btw. If you look at this second term, Trump is better prepared and has his people in place. The rapid decline to some kind of American fascism is absolutely terrifying to watch.

At some point, people are going to have to figure out that one candidate is consistently better at speaking to a strategic subset of Americans than most of the candidates put up against him.
Taking Donald Trump seriously is something Biden should have done in his first term, and it's something that Canada should have done for the last ten years.
On almost every single file, Trump has gotten what he wants. This should disturb a lot more people than it apparently does.
Yes, Trump has a lot of imperfections, and maybe those will destabilize him enough to prematurely end MAGA's curb-stomp of American democracy, but what I would really like to see is a resounding defeat of Republicans during the upcoming mid-terms. Not sure if the Democrats have what it takes for that though beyond the natural back and forth of the political cycle.

Donald Trump’s rise to power has nothing to do with intelligence. It’s about big money controlling disinformation networks, others in control behind the scenes, and a very dumbed down population who are part of a braindead cult. This is just batcrap attention trolling.

Are there successful people that are dumb as rocks? Yes.
Does that make them intelligent? No

So anyway
Newsom announced today that California will be going forward with their redistricting plan to counter and offset the Texas manoeuvre. In what was likely a completely unrelated event about a hundred federal officers gathered in front of the same building at the same time to conduct an "immigration operation".
California's path to redistricting is a bit more complicated than the Texas one but I'm sure that the state's right's people will be supportive of both the California and Texas plans.
