I think the problem may be downstream of the beer.

My uncle was 6'7. Still alive and doing great at age ~78. But I think he's only about 6'5 now

Zero Issue posted this to Instagram. TLDR: They closed.
Quote:
Nemesis has been vanquished, and now we find ourselves in a state of Cryostasis. We aimed for Infinity, but the Venom ran deep and we are now all but a Fossil, Artifact, or perhaps just a Relic Remnant in the memories of the many cherished friends we have made along the way. Together we have battled the Innsmouth, Golem, and explored the Nine Realms! Terraforming new lands while building Temples, and Fortresses along the way, in preparation for the Invasion that we hoped would never come. But here we are, in this Dystopian future, overlooking the Carnage, that even a Guardian could not protect us from.
Thank you all for the many Campaigns, through Risa, Pangea, and Arrakis, to name but a few. And to those who helped us find the Nebula, even you dear Hitchhiker, on our faithful Starhauler, our gratitude is immeasurable. Please don’t forget the Clones that were created by the Overlord, or was that the Barber? Our memory of the past grows hazy, with the inevitable Passage of time.
One day, we hope to again find Resonance, and Tranquility, perhaps in a new Celestial space, equipped with Cloak and Dagger, or maybe just our Exosuit. For now though, we must close this chapter and like the hero before us, announce that we are Adrift.
As we close our doors, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has enjoyed the beers we brewed at Zero Issue during our 8 incredible years! Thanks for the laughs, and memories that our little brewery family will cherish for years to come.
Cheers!

RE: Cider. French cider is the best. Properly earthy, nice apple taste, simply the best. Brittany and Normandy cider in 750ml bottles with the wired on champagne like cork. Nothing better. Highlander typically has some bottles.

Scenic road cidery in Kelowna makes some great cider. Plus it’s a great spot to bring some food and enjoy the weather when it’s nice.

I know of plenty I like from California/Oregon/Washington but for whatever reason I don’t find it great here. Reminds me of IPA when it caught on here and it just came along much more slowly than it did in California.

Like you I can’t drink most Alberta and BC ciders. If you like a good dry cider give Uncommon Cider a try. Great taste and refreshing. Love their haskap and craft dry ciders. Calgary company.

I also had the cheesesteak at alumni. It’s their feature sandwich at the moment. I thought it was fine. Between the cheesesteak and the Parmesan fries I think I hit my sodium intake for the month of August already. Both were so salty. I’m gonna have to chug a gallon of water. Feel so dehydrated after that meal.
Beef was almost creamy? Very soft. Didn’t have any sear to it. The cheese whiz was plentiful but is too rich and salty for my liking.
It wasn’t bad but not for me. I’d order something different next time.
Honestly kind of wish I’d gone to class clown or even for a trusty beef dip at the Ship. Both are superior for that price point in the neighborhood.

Doodle Dogs in Marda Loop is closing. They are citing the never ending construction. I went to get food a few weeks ago and had to park 3 blocks away and found it almost impossible to access the storefront. Its been like that since last year on and off.
Does anyone know WTF is going on in Marda with the construction overall? Is a fairly big black eye for the city but media seems to be disinterested in gettyto bottom of the complete mess it’s become.

No insight into what’s going on in Marda Loop (beyond chaos) but my friend who owns Fraser & Fig recently said the construction in front of him is finally done.

I was just at Deville's for coffee this afternoon and when I left there, there was a camera interview being conducted outside Doodle Dogs, so the media is on it now.

I'm sure this token meeting in a election year will help offset the years of construction and lost business.

Rumour already that Ol' Beautiful could be looking at the Zero Issue location. Could one arguably say that they have a bigger customer base than Zero Issue did? It's a far flung location, so I wonder if they would have a bigger draw?

I think that both Ol'Beautiful and Cold Garden really helped each other along initially. Customers could easily meander between the two establishments. It will be interesting if they can pull needed customers out in the sticks on their own.
