This sounds a lot like manufactured outrage. We get it, you’re very upset, but wanting to fight people that are trying to explain to the law to you seems to lack emotional maturity required to discuss this in a productive manner.
Let me guess, #### off loser???

Not just that, but the judge in one of her rulings said that she found evidence that it was consensual. That's different than just saying they couldn't prove it wasn't and therefore there is reasonable doubt. People can disagree with the judge based on what they read about it, but the judge had the best seat in the house and more knowledge and experience on the matter than anyone here.

But in a court, it wasn't considered a sexual assault based on the evidence presented.
I wish it ended differently because it really is abhorrent by what was presented, but it simply didn't meet the burden to convict.

I think they'll end up back in the league. 2022-2023 Dube looked like he was about to break into the top 6.
Can't imagine its with the Flames. He made them look stupid with the mental health leave nonsense.

I don't think there's anything manufactured about it. He has every right to be choked with what some people have been saying here.

I see very few people victim shaming or celebrating the verdict in here. The outcome however was entirely predictable given the evidence presented and the totality of the case put forth by the prosecution.
Quote:
"The judge starts by quoting Justice Anne Molloy who wrote in a different sexual assault case in Toronto: 'Although the slogan "believe the victim" has become popularized of late, it has no place in a criminal trial. To approach a trial with the assumption that a complainant is telling the truth is the equivalent to imposing a presumption of guilt on the person accused of sexual assault and placing the burden on him to prove his innocence. That is antithetical to the fundamental principles of justice enshrined in our constitution.'"

The burden of proof was pretty high to hit, so not a surprising outcome.
The verdict will be hard to explain for some, and I view it on the scale of OJ to the Brooklyn 5. This one is closer to OJ.
They did all the things that happened in that hotel room. The case was about consent given or not, and that's where the judge made their decision.
We can move on from this trial...now Hockey Canada and their involvement in this sort of thing over the last few decades. Well that still feels unresolved.

Thankfully he is in the minority.
I share your disgust with those that are celebrating this like it's some sort of victory, but there are a lot less of them than there are those of us with empathy. Block those who are outing themselves and move on.
|
Well. that certain poster is going to come along and tell you that the court has decided. it wasn't even a jury verdict. it was the judge's verdict. for me, that's the end of that matter pending any new evidence or trial. it's time to move on.
But yeah if people are going to confront others, curse at others for having a different POV....yeah those people are doing a disservice to their cause as they're actually alienating the same people they're cursing at even more.

If you think this is a mistrial Justice at the level of OJ you are out of your mind with all respect

I beg to differ. I think this trial is evidence that our system worked quite well actually (in this instance). There is a burden of proof. It wasn't met so the accused were found not guilty. I'm unsure what you thought was the evidence for you that in your eyes met the burden of proof.

Pretty sure forum rules 2,3,4,6 and possibly 8 have been completely obliterated. Congrats, sir!

Why are you so sure she was sexually assaulted ? I think most people see a middle ground / uncertain ? guilt in this trial - even if it was sexual assault (which legally it was found not to be ) I certainly never thought it was “clearly” sexual assault
I am expecting a bunch of **** vs an actual answer or an invitation to fight but would sincerely like to know why you are so certain a crime was committed
