Opening with a pair of back to backs - both on the road with travel between games.
And your home opener is 2:00PM start which is weird.
Then it doesn't get any easier after that first 5 game stretch.
But TBH sometimes I don't mind playing the better teams early in the season before they hit their stride, and more games early can help get your feet under you quicker.
Quite a home stand starting March 18th 6 games with a game every other evening through the 28th includes the Florida and SoCal teams. Good time for some of our out of towners to visit.
MQS: OHHHH That's good! Fly out Friday, kid wont be too tired for the game, fly back Sunday! Depending on the cost of flights that actually could work.
Schedule Makers: The road game against Toronto is a Tuesday
MQS: That's sucks
Schedule Makers: The road game against Montreal is on a Wednesday
MQS: You sum ma ma beach!

That stretch at the end of NOV is going to be tough.
Back to back CHI, BUF
Fly to CGY for 1 game vs DAL
Back to back next day in VAN
Then fly to TBL, CAR, FLA, and NSH playing every 2nd night.
Matinee games always suck, but it you are going to have one, it's better to be the home team at least. Matinee games for the Flames when they are in the eastern time zones have been killers. I find it harder to get into the mood to watch a game in the middle of the day as well.

Flames with the lowest number of back to backs (tied with Winnipeg)
Excellent. For too long the Flames have not given enough thought to this. It means extra points in the standings, which we have typically resigned to the Oilers.

I disagree. I love matinee games. There are three this season, plus two at 5:00 pm, and two at 6:00 pm. I would much rather be getting home at 8:00 pm, then starting the game at 8:00 pm. And matinees? Have lunch, go to a hockey game, and then cook dinner at home? Yes please!

I don’t believe we’ve played a weekend game in Toronto since I first moved out here. It’s been brutal. It’s also never on a national broadcast night so I get it blacked out because I (USE TO) pay for out of market streaming.
I've never minded weekend afternoon games at home.
Before kids it was fun to go to an afternoon game, then be able to go for a dinner after the game without rushing, and out for some drinks with a group of friends.
And they are nice for people with kids to be able to bring the kid out to a game, especially for those with younger kids.
Admittedly it is a bit weird for a home opener, but I'm guessing it's part of a triple header of some sort.
