That is the one piece i would have a hard time with unless there is lottery protection on it. The only deals that make sense to me would be where Dallas is involved and Robertson finds his way to Anaheim. Here is the 3 team trade I cooked up.
To Dallas: Andersson (50% retained) + Coleman (double retained)+ Vegas 1st
To Anaheim: Robertson, Pospisil
To Calgary: McTavish, Zellweger.
(Zellweger and Pospisil can be taken out I am just trying to get the Flames the LHD as well)

I think today is literally the slowest sports day of the year.
- No MLB games since it's the day after the all star game
- No Golf tournament until Thursday
- Wimbledon just finished
- NFL / NBA / NHL / European Soccer all in offseason
- No College Sports

Dallas needs help on the back end, maybe they really want Anderson and Coleman. I hope they somehow get Bichsel.

This really is the player the Flames need in terms of addressing the centre ice position, age and high end skill. I would try an offer sheet in the $9M x 7 range. It wouldn't be too prohibitive with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round compensation considering the Flames recent drafts and would make for a hard match for the Ducks.
The Flames also have the extra first and third round picks next year already and will likely recoup further whenever they do move Andersson. Cap space is obviously not a huge issue presently and with the cap going up further they should be able to move around a heavier price tag for Mactavish in the short term and may have a bargain on their hands in 2 seasons.

The Flames should back the truck up for McTavish (within some reason ofcourse)
Wolf and Parehk being the only untouchables.
It would hurt, but I would include the 2026 1st for a piece like him.
Building around McTavish, Parehk and Wolf would be amazing.

I imagine that McTavish requires a deal around 8x$9.5M so not sure that fits Dallas’ cap structure.

Dallas is centre heavy and defence lite after Heiskenan and Harley. And they can't afford McTavish without a cap dump.
The question for me is whether McTavish is really available because Anaheim isn't thick with centres either on the roster or as prospects. I think this is all RFA negotiating.

They kind of are, actually. Gauthier is a natural center, plus they have Ryan Strome and just signed Ryan Poehling and Mikael Granlund, and just drafted McQueen and Nilson.

If this was in here and I missed it sorry. Shayna Goldman at the athletic about McTavish re: offer sheet possibility and Anaheim's appetite to move him
Quote:
...McTavish hasn’t established himself as a true top-six center yet, and some of his comps, like Max Comtois, Max Domi and Casey Mittelstadt, add some question marks on just how much substance there is in his game. As much as the Ducks have short- and long-term financial flexibility, management still may not want to clog up the books too early with a hefty McTavish extension...Anyone willing to roll the dice on McTavish has to see a little Dylan Strome in him — a late-bloomer who needs the right opportunity. For some eligible teams, such as the Canadiens, Bruins, Flames and Red Wings, it’s worth throwing a dart this summer. At worst, it rattles Pat Verbeek in Anaheim, who easily matches an offer. At best, it lands a team a 22-year-old center who could thrive in a new environment.

Ah for some reason I thought he had a year left. That contract is a big bet on McTavish. If that is a real idea then makes sense why the Ducks are cautious

I thought we talked about this. We aren't on a limited character platform. Use your words.

That assumes, Andersson extends, if he was traded to Dallas.
Could be a 1 year scenario, with Rasmus, leaving extending with whom ever

Yes, Dallas will just take McTavish and to hell with the fact they are deep at centre and need help on defence lol. He can be their 4th line C.
