His name is RonaldWe know him as Ron MacLean
 He is a clown
 Not from the burger chain
 Oh how he sucks
 When talking bout pucks
He just doesn’t know when to scram
And he doesn’t hold up well on CP

Cause he’s just a senile dirtbag baby
Yeah he’s just a senile dirtbag baby
Dragging down HNIC lately for me
 Oooh oooh ooh ooh oooooh

 His partner was Grapes
Not the kind in Ron’s glass
 Suit made up of drapes
And mouth of a hardnosed ass
 Coach’s Corner each week
 We’d hear Cherry speak
And Ron would sneak in some puns
And we wouldn’t give a damn on CP

Cause he’s just a senile dirtbag baby
Yeah he’s just a senile dirtbag baby
Ruining the first intermission weekly for me
 Oooh oooh ooh ooh oooooh

 Oh yeaaaaah, dirtbag
We don’t know bout what he’s riffing
 Oh yeaaaaah, dirtbag
Listening to him has got us miffing

 Man I feel old
40 years and he’s still going
 Low and behold
There’s his smug face on tv
 My fist starts to shake
 As he bloviates
How hasn’t he gotten the can?
And why does he ramble on endlessly

Gimme a glass of beer or some wine or three
In four years the Oil’ll have a dynasty
Cause I’m just plain senile dirtbag crazy
 It’s true

 Oooooh ooooh ooooh oooh oooh

 Oh yeeeeah, dirtbag
We don’t know what CBC’s thinking
 Oh yeeeeah, dirtbag
Ron’s not the only one who’s drinking

Everybody that watches hockey can't stand Ron so you must take everything literally when I said "universally". That is an absurd take. You are right, people who never watch hockey don't despise Ron MacLean. Happy? Lol

I don't hate or despise Ron MacLean and I watch hockey.
He had his value for a time, but that time is over. I'm entirely indifferent to him.

Yep. I've never heard anyone outside this forum express any strong opinions about Ron Maclean. The hate on CP is weird.

According to Sportsnet themselves , 60 per cent of NHL fans are over 50. And sports fans typically like familiar faces and voices on their broadcasts. They'll keep Maclean around until he's no longer demonstrably able to do the job, or he retires voluntarily. He's only 65, and seems to enjoy the job, so don't expect that to happen any time soon. Bob Cole kept working broadcasts until he was 85.

We hate him because he is a hardcore Oilers cheerleader. And he is a rat.

		| I can tell you, without equivocation, that you’ll never meet a nicer, more cordial and pleasant backstabber than Ron MacLean. The first three adjectives are mine; the latter, a non–stop, prodigious and largely inexplicable sentiment amid television viewers in our country that once threatened to boycott Hockey Night In Canada during a salary squabble between MacLean and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). This fall from grace is unlike anything in the modern history of sports media. In fact, it is nothing shy of a phenomenon. |

		| Don Cherry said his departure from Hockey Night in Canada in 2019 was not an orchestrated “exit strategy” related to health concerns, as was recently suggested by Ron MacLean, his ex-longtime on-air partner.
“I’m very disappointed in Ron that he would bring this up,” Cherry, 91, told the Toronto Sun’s Joe Warmington in a conversation about MacLean’s assertions. “I’m very disappointed that he would reach back five years and do this.”

“He should let it go,” he added.

Don't quote the troll. Try putting him on block like the rest of us and let him rant to himself. The guy is a multiple time suspended poster, ignore him.

The work he's done on programs like Hockey Day in Canada and Hometown Hockey demonstrate his passion for this country. The one thing I appreciate about him is how he digs into the little stories and history in the nooks and crannies across Canada. Sure, he's a poet in his own mind only, and he generally comes off as a self-important wiener, but he's just as much a patriot as Don Cherry.

So maybe it isn't the patriotism or nationalistic values you admire so much, but rather the way Don thinks and speaks to which you relate. It's less the love for Canada, and more the jingoism and xenophobia.

Kind of like how the people that rallied around him telling immigrants to wear a poppy in November are the same ones clutching pearls over pride jerseys and pissing and moaning every June.

Maybe just stop tying to make your s###ty beliefs palatable because it all still tastes like s###.

Canucks fans tend to absolutely hate Ron. Hell the entire Canucks organization wouldn't do a CBC/Sportsbet hit involving Ron for close to ten years.

There is one thing Ron may love more than himself, McDavid and Draisaitl. He's awful.
