That’s some kind of mudraking in that article. “Journalist” calls McLean ’Judas’ in a tweet imbedded in it.

I don't think that a real newspaper should use the word "woke" in the first couple sentences. Made me close the article before it started

Not only has Maclean lost his grip on reality and failed to adjust with the times, but covering anything involving the oilers is clearly of personal significance to him and I'd much rather have someone impartial to teams like Edmonton and Toronto in the host chair who can discuss all aspects of the game without these forced narratives.

Who else does that sound like.

They should have turfed them both at the same time.

I still think Rogers was looking for an excuse to get rid of Don for a while before he said what he said and they jumped on the opportunity the first chance they got. I don’t think what he was trying to say was bad. I’m a big fan of Don but he was a few years past his expiry date. Rogers saw an opportunity and they took it.

Ron sucks regardless of what happened with Don Cherry though.

I wasn't a big fan of Cherry in his last few years on the show, but at least he kept MacLean in check. MacLean untethered is unbearable.

I don't know why Ron would agree to this interview and then again talk through what happened so many years ago, now. Nothing good can come out of it and I figured he'd be way smarter than that. A simple, "no comment, thanks" would have been perfect.

Ego.
I have zero use for either of these guys
I would prefer never to hear a damn thing from either
A bigot and an egomaniac.

But how does getting this article out there help his ego? He must have known that it would get a response from Don himself, which would lead to negativity going his way for what he said and even talking about this again now. He's the top dog for SN HNIC right now, is that not enough?! Crazy!

Ron MacLean bringing up Cherry is his only way of staying relevant.

Think about the HNIC personalities from that era and frankly Cherry and MacLean are the most prominent by far - Ron hitched his wagon to the personality of Cherry and it made him rich and famous, but without that he would be a footnote on a Wikipedia page.

Obviously it was past time for Don to step aside but for over 20 years he was an institution who represented what hockey was for a lot of the population.

I’m sure Ron really misses losing a “friend” who has a core belief to never apologize.

They clearly had a transactional professional relationship that Ron, not Don always maintained. What happened was the circus ended and the clown blamed his “partner” instead of accepting reality that his joke was finally over.

Don & Ron both epitomize moronic hockey cronyism that exalts a bully with minimal critical thinking skills and his kowtowing hustler charlatan sidekick for well over 30 years.
