Makes no difference to US. Canadians typically overestimate their place in the world. Not sure US even notices.. but all the rhetoric is keeping US folks from going to Canada as well so there is that backlash.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/cro...cans-1.7581821

As the saying goes.. When America sneezes the world catches cold. Can't really say that about Canada. Nothing you do will even make a dent in the US Economy.

Oh and thank you for selling your US homes. We need the inventory.
Literally 0 Canadians think they are going to make an impact on the US economy. Nor do any overestimate their place in the world. Canadians do more making fun of Canada per capita than any other country.

There are lots of reasons people do things, morals being one of them. But feel free to swing around sarcastic post titles and nonsense commentary. I’m assuming you think this is going to change something. Like we’re going to read this and say “aw shucks” and kick a rock. Individual Americans really do overestimate their place and the popularity of their opinions.

Have you ever decided that you didn’t want to spend your hard earned money on a company you dislike or previously mistreated you? Do you think that is abnormal behaviour, or is it the literal application of capitalism?

Be better. You can start by selling off all your American Black Lotus's... lol

Not really. Like I said do what you want if it makes you feel good. Boycott the US if you think it is a "moral" thing to do. Just don't believe it will matter. Funny how "potential" US tariffs are moral question but trade and labor practices as well as tariffs from China are not?

I am enjoying the rise in Canadian Nationalism though. Makes the sports more entertaining.

Yeah… I know it’s seemingly impossible to ram this into your skulls, but nobody is doing this because of tariffs.

The annexation threats kick started this, and is the main reason when you ask anybody. It has nothing to do with tariffs. Nor is anybody “feeling good” about any of this.

You’re offended, I understand the desire to lash out sarcastically. The victim mentality coming from that side or the border is absolutely adorable and on brand.

30% tariffs now on Mexico and the EU starting Aug. 1st according to Emperor Dips***. Looks like the letters he sent are almost copied and pasted verbatim from the ones he sent to Canada and other countries, minus a few country-specific things he’s mad about with each one. Including his dumb warning to anyone who retaliates with countermeasures.

And the clown show continues, rinse & repeat.

Oh no! We won't get to experience the ignorance and arrogance of the average American traveller! Whatever shall we do without the world's worst tourists visiting us?

What the average cactus looks like on a Hawaii hiking trail. Ya, you can stay home if our defensiveness about your election of the worlds worst person turns you off of our country.

Any comments on your own leader chasing tourists away with increased park fees? Or are we just supposed to change our strategy 'cause you think it hurts us, but dear leader nails it every time?

Sure, maybe not a big one in the grand scheme of things. But it's definitely having an effect on U.S. border towns. Below is just one example of what's been happening in border towns and states from east to west.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/featu...n-border-towns

Quote:
Few places in the US are hurting more than the border towns of Washington state, where local economies are almost entirely dependent on the other side.

“We do not survive without Canada. We just don’t,” Ali Hayton, owner of the main grocery store in Point Roberts, Washington, said at a roundtable meeting about the crisis on April 24.

Quote:
Now Canadians are staying away, plunging the town into an economic depression. Hayton’s sales are down 30% from a year earlier, leading her to slash stock orders and lower her store’s exchange rate to entice foreigners back.

She says she worries it won’t be enough to keep her 17 employees on the payroll, noting that 80% of her business comes from Canadians visiting in the summer months.

You'd think 'Murica would have plenty of excess housing capacity already. Isnt Detroit mostly deserted, Banks evicted tons of people during the Housing Crisis and now Drumpf is shipping anyone with a tan to Nicaragua or wherever the hell.

I have heard rumblings the WTO is considering a vote to suspend the US from the organization for now. That would be smart and ideal. Let the US add as many tariffs as they want, nobody trades with them.

Apparently the U.S. already suspended their financial contributions to the WTO back in March, and it sounds like they're planning on leaving anyway. So voting to kick them out seems like the inevitable outcome at this point.

The United States has paused contributions to the World Trade Organization, three trade sources told Reuters, as U.S. President Donald Trump's administration ramps up efforts to cut government spending.

The Trump administration is retreating from global institutions it sees as at odds with his "America First" economic policies. It plans to quit some, such as the World Health Organization, and has cut contributions to others as part of a broad review of federal spending.

Perfect, so why would anyone want to trade with the US? As far as I can tell they don't have anything you can't trade with someone else with. Just shut them out completely.

But the weird thing is that all of this is completely unnecessary, and came from nowhere and for no reason.

Like, can you even figure out why they’re doing this? I guess you’re American?

Do you know why Trump started this? Makes no sense.

If you read through project 2025 they objected to having the most preferred nation Tarrif rules and wanted to end that practice and negotiate Tarrifs rates nation by nation as to avoid dumping issues. It’s actually not terrible policy as written in project 2025.

Then Trump has just shat all over it.

In Trump's case it's simple, it sounds good, makes him look tough, which is ironic as he's the most chicken#### lazy cowardly President the US has ever elected, doesn't even have the balls to fire people himself

It's nothing more than that for him, his whole thing is image, he has no concern as to whether it is good or bad for the US or the world, just as long as his rube supporters see him as tough, clearly there are now people in the backroom trying to take advantage of his stupidity to push their agenda but he has no more of a plan than a pidgeon does

Which, considering his history, is hilariously ironic in and of itself.
