How can businesses plan with completely unpredictable tariffs? They’re on, they’re off, they’re 25%, they’re 50%, they’re 35%, they’re off again, some are off but some are on.

Yep. I've deal with a lot of businesses that are basically yo-yo-ing hoarding inventory every few weeks on the off-chance Drumpf actually follows through on the tariffs.
Guess what happens to supply and ergo prices when a bunch of businesses are suddenly and seemingly randomly stockpiling months worth of inventory.

I reconsidered making a relatively large purchase recently, on an item only made in the US and it's really pissing me off. The retaliatory tarrif alone would have been $4,923 CAD.

I’m just flat out trying my best to buy nothing from the US. I hope that others are still doing this and people haven’t gotten soft.
The biggest impact for me seems to be in the produce section. I’ve really wanted some cauliflower or berries and all of the options are from the US. Instead, I’ve skipped those purchases and thankfully now the farmers markets are rolling and I can buy things there.

I just opened a package I got today from the US and I'm mad at myself for dropping my vigilance. I usually have my eBay settings to only display things from Canadian sellers, but I somehow unchecked that box or something and accidentally ordered from a US seller.
I apologize to my fellow Canadians and promise to redouble my efforts!

I started missing cauliflower in the spring, so we grew our own. It's great, but we should have planted more. Almost all gone. Unfortunately the only orange tree we can grow makes grape sized sour oranges.
Have some Arctic kiwi, corn, grapes, rhubarb, raspberries, strawberries, plum, haskaps, cherries, Nanking cherry, apple, sakskatoons, onion, garlic, peppers, cucumber, squash, cabbage, taters, carrots, lettuce, kale, horseradish, catnip, broccoli, asparagus, radishes, tomatos, and lots of herbs.
Thanks to global warming you can grow all sorts of stuff here.

Lots of amendments. Lots.
Actually, built proper raised beds this year and good soil, so it's all much better.

Yeah we haven’t bought romaine lettuce in months as apparently nobody else is growing it. Had a decent run of blueberry options but it’s been nothing but ####tsville blues for over a month. Ontario blues can’t come soon enough.

Alberta’s premier has responded to the latest tariff announcement from U.S. President Donald Trump, saying the threatened increase would hurt economies on both sides of the border while also denouncing Canadian retaliatory tariffs.
In a post to social media, Danielle Smith says the threat of 35 per cent across-the-board tariffs on Canadian imports would be “a tax on the American people” that would hurt businesses in Canada and the U.S.

Mark Smith down as one of those dumb enoguh to still think logic and reason works on this Cheeto. How can you still believe this is even worth discussing anymore? Back in February? Sure? Now? Wake the #### up.

Keep those Elbows up
If it makes you feel good. Otherwise don't ... US simply doesn't care.
https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/ph...100047020.html
Makes no difference to US. Canadians typically overestimate their place in the world. Not sure US even notices.. but all the rhetoric is keeping US folks from going to Canada as well so there is that backlash.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/cro...cans-1.7581821
As the saying goes.. When America sneezes the world catches cold. Can't really say that about Canada. Nothing you do will even make a dent in the US Economy.
Oh and thank you for selling your US homes. We need the inventory.
