I’m going too, but they haven’t really marketed this one much. And being outside of the season ticket package and requiring purchase, the opponent, weeknight, etc. you might be right. But it will be a beautiful night though.

I'm going with my kids. Tickets seem cheaper than reg season so there's that at least.
Will graciously accept 4 freebies though

I can't make it but managed to give away my tickets so my seats will be filled. Agreed with the very limited marketing on this one

I couldn't make it and didn't buy "my" seats as a result. They would have more success in including all of these with season tickets and selling the incredibly overpriced beer. In my case, I would've made sure that someone else was using my tickets, and in this heat, they must be printing money with the beer sales.
I just think that selling these outside the season tickets creates a barrier to getting people there, and unless this is a marquee opponent or a huge cup game, it means a lower attendance.

I wont be going either, really just comes down to seeing the same teams over and over.
I'll go when they play some league 1 talent or an MLS team.

IMO there isn't much to market.
It was exciting in 2019 when it expanded significantly and there was the novelty of MLS clubs playing CPL, but since then it has been the same 6 clubs playing the same 6 clubs with the 3 MLS clubs having a real shot at winning the thing. There is the odd exciting result but it's just not that interesting.
I was more interested in the Scottish game than this one because at least it was a new matchup and a chance to see some of the young players get on the pitch.

Fair point. In that case, throw the doors open for free and they'll still make a bunch of money on concessions. And more importantly, expose the club, the grounds, etc. to some fresh eyes.
Never going to happen, but if you're probably not covering costs from the gate tonight anyway, just do something different and make some lemonade from it.
But fully agree that the competition has gotten a bit stale.

I guess they can focus more on CPL now.
I wonder what the attendance was. It didn’t look too bad. I was expecting it to be much lower.
And the heat wasn’t crazy either with a breeze kicking in every now and then.

I guess but they are 7 points back of that and 4 teams ahead of them and they just now couldn't beat the last place team in the league in either /both of the 2 legs. Not impossible but they have a goal scoring problem the last month or so.

Cavalry were dreadful in both legs so I think the right team is advancing. Best part of the night was when the sun went down, it was absolutely cooking in the South stand until about the 85th minute. And the free corn dog.
2177 in attendance apparently which seema about right. Bigger crowd than I thought it would be.

I know Tommy has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know but I don't understand why they rotated the squad for this one. They had 10 days off, they should have been fresh.
Feels like a terrible missed opportunity

It feels that Warschewski is playing deeper lately. That’s probably impacting the goal scoring a bit as well

How does the Calvary league one team factor into the main team? They are not very impressive from the few games I have watched (ref'd).

The League1 team is just a developmental team. A few of the young players on the first team will get more minutes in League1 when they don't see the bench, but a lot of the players on the League1 team won't be anywhere near a pro contract.

I was thinking the same. If Warschewski isn't hurt, I don't get this. The top of the table isn't looking likely, and you've got a chance to make a cup semi-final.

Unfortunate result, but hard to argue that Vancouver didn't deserve it over two legs. The first half was pretty brutal. Much better second half, and I think that if there was extra time, Cavalry would've found a late winner.
It was a better crowd than I expected, given the factors discussed here before the match. And it probably looked even worse on TV because myself and many others moved up to find some shade in the first half.
Aside from the result, it was actually a reasonably entertaining match. Frustrating though, as you could see the end result coming from a mile away, even as an improved second half tried to convince me otherwise. I just knew that if this went to penalties, Vancouver would win it.
Ah well - just one of those nights. Onward!
