Heart of the New West is a good slogan but it doesn't mean anything. What is the New West? In what way is Calgary the heart of it? I think 95% of Calgarians would have to guess to answer it.
Be Part of the Energy is a terrible slogan. It sounds like bad marketing for a chain of gyms. Also you might as well just say "we're all about corporate oil here". As much as that's sort of true it's not the way you want to present yourself.
Blue Sky City is an okay slogan but checks the other boxes well.

Heart of the New West is great BECAUSE it offers a bit of room for interpretation.
"West" is AB, SK, MB. Mostly known for prairies and oil. "New West" is more than just praires and oil, and it's up to you to discover it.
Calgary is naturally the heart of it because it's the biggest center west of Toronto and east of Vancouver. Calgary is arguably also the cultural capital of the west; hence being the 'heart'.
Be part of the energy was so ####ing dumb. Blue sky city is also dumb. Every city has blue skies on sunny days.

I thought "Be part of the Energy" was a double entendre. As in, the energy industry here, but also the energy and excitement of those that work and live here.
Of course it is a slogan that comes with its own issues as already pointed out.
Well, you're a Brit so most people have no idea what you're saying most of the time anyways.
Thats the thing with Game of Thrones. It's not a real place. Why does everyone speak with the British accent? Why can't they speak American or Canadian? That show you 100% need subtitles for.
Also for a cast of characters with some truly unique names, and then you have main characters named Ned, Jamie, Rob and Jon lol

Blue Sky in the new slogan also has multiple meanings. It has the obvious reference to the sky and our large number of sunny days but it also refers to the business and innovation communities in Calgary and their approach to "blue sky" thinking.

Is this coincidental or were all these slogans supposed to all be double entendres?

In 2022, city council awarded $1.8 million to Calgary Economic Development (CED) and $3 million to Tourism Calgary to redevelop Calgary's brand, said Brad Parry, CED's chief executive.
WTF? $4.8M to come up with Blue Sky?
