Hague just seems redundant when you already have Bahl. Trading for and re-signing him to a larger deal would have been very meh. George is a decent prospect, but a) goalies are voodoo and b) we simply don't have the need right now.
all in all, yeah, I think those deals would have been pretty underwhelming. Not super terrible, but nothing to write home about either.

I agree with others, they need to shift the approach to offering him, as a 1 year guy, to entire league except for the 6 teams on his NT list.

If we were to use Lindholm as the upper mark, and targeted return...
To Dallas: Rasmus Andersson (50% retained)
To Calgary: 2027 1st Round Pick, Tristan Bertucci ('23 2nd round pick, LHD), Matt Dumba (cap-dump, Kuzy equivelant)
I think that type of deal is a fair return, and works within Dallas' cap constraints as they're dumping more cap than taking on.

Yes it is. Even worse if Andersson extended. On top of that Hauge was traded for 4th liners afterwards.

I never said he was bad...he didn't have a great season though. Its not like it would be impossible to replace. Byram (who is the subject of this thread) is at the very least capable of being an equal to what Rasmus gave the Flames last year with tons of room to grow.

As I said earlier this was not a 20/20 hindsight as much as you would like to think that. Read the trade deadline thread.
The rumour was Flames had a trade with the Leafs Andersson for the the Carlo package. In turn they were going to flip a pick to Carolina for Orlov. Carolina backed out so then Conroy didn't want to move Andersson, thinking it sent to wrong message as he wanted to give them a chance at playoffs.
Going back to my point Conroy decided to show loyalty to a group of veterans who got to the second round once in the last 10 years. The young guys now deserve the opportunity.
Conroy continually has stated he wants to give young guys a chance to play could have played Brusntewicz and Parekh a few more games if he made the move.
Again Conroy is acing the drafts and that is the most important part of his job right now. But this decision is a headscrstcher for me and fairly disappointing.

We can't argue rumors as facts though, who knows what was actually available at the deadline and we also don't know what the eventual return will be

Are we serious that we were going to flip a pick for a pending UFA Orlov? Wow........ talk about sending a message to the fan base.

Yeah I'd never heard that one either, nor had I heard the Toronto offer.

What we need to do is collectively channel our most tradeful intentions to immanentize a deal. Together we can make it happen!

I'd be fine with this, and have the 2027 top 10 protected so it can transfer over to a 2029 1st unprotected. A lot can happen in 4 years if it got deferred.

From everything Royle said they didn’t shop Andersson.
High prices on players and we did nothing. That’s the frustrating part.

|
Nothing has changed since my post on Page 6. We're now on Page 45. Unless Conroy decides to pay BUF's ask, this isn't getting done. Both teams are content to let this ride out for now.
Flames don't feel any urgency in trading away Rasmus or acquiring Byram. This applies across their whole roster. They're more than happy to ride out the summer and head into the season. So I think for rumors and activity, this summer may be brutal for the fanbase anticipating moves.

I'd love for that to be the case, I really don't see it though. Sheltering Parekh with the right vets (like Pachal) taking the defensive matchups will be key. I think a Phaneuf-like rookie season would be best case scenario.
21:44 average TOI (2nd pairing with Hamrlik), 16 PPG + 17 PPA with only 4 ESG + 11 ESA, finished +5 on a division winning team.
It'll be really interesting to watch regardless. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by his defensive game.

ZP isn't replacing Andersson overall
He is 100% an upgrade on the PP and in 3 on 3 OT though. (more than a few points missed there) Someone else needs to take the defensive minutes.

To clarify if that’s what they end up getting it’s fine
But it doesn’t make me feel like, at this point, they’ve missed out on some amazing deal
