Ehlers or Roslovic would be good.

For Calgary? Not really IMO. Calgary doesn't need high priced vets yet. Forwards are pretty much full anyway. Could use an experienced LD if anything.

Shabanov likely going to the Isles was reported going all the way back to last September. I think it was between them and Vegas.

It's hard to see such a light weight doing well in the NHL, but it will be neat to see him try.

Flames still need a RHS FW. That's more of a luxury at this point in time until the FW group gets ironed out.

Still need a top 4 LD and we wait with baited breath on the Byram from for that.

Hopefully my Nostradamus hat is accurate and Ehlers signs with COL and they trade us Necas for Razz.

Yeah, but someone was apparently reporting Philly was a done deal this week

Ehlers would instantly be our best winger- if you have a chance to sign him, you aren't going to say, "we're already full up on forwards". Sign Ehlers and trade somebody else, plus- we're likely losing a forward in any trade for a D, likely Byram. Ehlers would be a huge upgrade on the wing.

Then they can play him with Huberdeau!

Sure he may be our best winger. Or one of Coronato, Zary, Huberdeau or Sharangovich could be. I'm not 100% against getting players like Ehlers. I just question why? Especially when the team has an outside shot at falling in the standings in the McKenna draft, I just don't see it.i also don't think Ehlers will be cheap. Are we prepared to pay him north of 7m for 7 seasons?

If Conroy gave any indication that he wasn't going to try to build on last season's success (beyond selling Andersson off) then I would be on board, but it looks like he wants to get in to the playoffs. Ehlers has been close to a ppg in 4 of the last 5 seasons, there's no question he would be our best winger- unless he pulls a Huberdeau, and cuts his production in half. He is injury prone, though.

Pretty underwhelming free agent class even if the Flames were looking to sign veterans.

Does anyone here have a good grasp on Toronto's cap situation? Does it seem like they are planning to have a lot of cap space next year to potentially sign McDavid? Looks like they have $5 million in cap space at the moment.

I see their inactivity so far as a pretty big indicator they’re content on continuing down some sort of rebuild path. This and Conroy’s quotes spell to me at least they’re not ‘saying’ rebuild but moving in that direction.
