You have to read the fine print in that ‘strategy.’*
* the fine print will be released next summer when the strategists will have the data to decide if he should have been traded this summer.

I like it!. Not getting locked into a long term deal during a rebuild on a guy we are not sure what he will be. Hope he does become an actual 2nd line center

I like it.
Honestly have no idea what kind of player Frost is, Im glad the term is no longer than 2.
If he shows he is more than what we saw after the trade, he can get a better contract here.

So Conroy should be keeping Coleman despite his two years remaining on his contract? Or is there another set of goalposts somewhere?

Fair price for a player with a career high of 46 points. Gives him a chance to find another level on a team where opportunity will be there for him to take if can seize it.

Only if he puts up an all time worst performance vs the Oilers in the playoffs.

Good term. I'm not sold on Frost yet. I see glimpses here and there, but it's hard to know if he's part of the core or just a temporary stop gap to the core. He has 2 years to show that and force the Flames to pay him.

$4M is nothing in today's in NHL, especially for a young player that has the potential to be centering our second or even first line by the end of the year.

Good that Conroy doesn’t double down and sign him long term until he proves himself

I think there is a good chance that he out performs that AAV.

Unless he does prove himself........then we'll have to endure the "why didn't you lock him up when you had the chance, and a good GM would have seen the potential and gotten a long term value contract, got to show commitment to your assets when you have them......" type of chatter.

It's only 4.5% and 4.2% of the cap. The AAV is certainly fine. I'd have preferred another year or two myself but he and his agent know where the cap is heading.

It was always going to be something like this. Bridge makes sense for both sides. Hope Frosty finds his finish.
