This is what I was hoping for - a modest 2 year deal to see how he does. Hopefully he really develops and ends up earning a long term deal with a much higher AAV, and if he doesn't, then it is likely that some prospect (and/or Zary) will replace him on the roster. Good luck Mr. Frost - I hope you excel!

You are correct. 1 RFA year and 1 UFA year.

He's a stopgap player while we wait for our next core to be drafted and developed so I like the term. If the salary is a bit of an overpay it's fine to reach the cap floor in this transitionary period

I like Frost, but it's not clear if he'll be a key part of the future. We could have seen a 5+ year deal but both parties might also be happy to part ways in 2 years so I'm happy with this. Better to not have a big commitment when there's so much uncertainty to the Flames future.

Was hoping for a 3 year deal and was worried about a 1 year so this is a decent compromise.

Well ####, since it's only a 2 year deal that means we have to trade him now to maximize the return right?

If the trade is not done this summer then Conroy has not learned anything.

Try harder, is his extension starting at 30 and 8 years?

I like that deal, Frost gets a chance to prove he deserves more and the Flames aren't locked down by his contract.

Puts him 2 years to UFA, so from what I've read lately, this means the Flames have to trade him before this season starts.

Don't love it, but it's fine. Not sure why he's getting any sort of trade protection at this stage of his career even if it's limited.
