I find in a lot of the movies lately the speech is too fast, and the enunciation poor.

I'm maybe envisioning a crop that Jeremy Clarkson drilled.

I was reminded today of a candy called Twin Bing and those should not only be banned but those who enjoy them should be the people the American government targets for deportation to random countries. Objectively the worst candy ever produced

You’re not the only one. Around half of viewers these days routinely use subtitles.

Naturalistic, mumbling acting styles. Bad audio mixes. Compressed audio. For a lot of shows you pretty much need subtitles to understand what the #### anyone is saying.

Even if your native language is spoken on the movies, when there are subtitles, you tend to read them word for word.

ADHD, getting older. Those two help me focus on what I'm watching. I've been subtitles for a while now.

Celebrated Square Root Day

Wildhorse Saloon during Stampede for their concerts. It's confusing as I believe they only have one entry and it's all general admission. But when you go to puchase tickets on showpass it says Sloan price 1, sloan price 2. $35 and $40. Now that price difference tells me to just pay the $40 for our group to ensure we don't get stuck in some back area where you can't get to the stage.
But....also for $40 they offer BOGO deals, so you get Sloan plus a free ticket to any other concert during Stampede (Watchmen, Strumbellas, Dallas Smith etc). But again, I don't want to pay that $40 and find out you're not able to get to the front on both shows. Anyone been to a show there before? Do they have sections or is it all general admission on the bar floor?
For reference, this is where you click on tickets and get the random amounts. https://www.showpass.com/sloan-3/

It’s general admission. Sometimes different ticket levels can have “be in by this time” requirements. Or they sell X amount of tickets then raise the price. In this case it just looks like they haven’t sold out of the $35 tickets yet and are offering the BOGO.
I wouldn’t worry about it. You will be able to get right up close if you want. Pending other fans of course.

Hmm I’m just remembering the day my CP world came crashing down around me.
It was the day I realized jayswin and flameswin are the same person.
I felt so deceived.
Have a good time anyway.

Apple TV has a nice feature when you do a rewind it adds subtitles for the length of rewind. I use it a lot more than I wish I had to.

I've been watching Fargo season 4 and just assumed the Italian guy was mumbling, as he switch back and forth from English to Italian, but I could kid grab some English words so at the time just thought he was mumbling stuff the audience wasn't supposed to pick up. Then a bunch of them got together and were mumbling in English, so I turned on subtitles. Well hey! Some of it is Italian and has subtitles. But you can only have everything no or off, which feels like mailing it in. Why wouldn't it just automatically put Italian translation up by default? Dumb. This is on Crave, so not a surprise.
And the reason we used to be able to understand movies and shows is because the actors used to come from theatre, where you learned to project your voice, not mumble into your cereal bowl. At some point (I mostly blame Christoper Nolan) mumbling came a feature of the character or the scene, an attempt to make the audience work harder.
And now anyone with a pretty face can get a job acting which kinda ignores the talking part of it.

I find it helpful for people with accents. Sometimes you read extra information that goes beyond the dialogue, such as song titles.

One of my favorite tear-jerkers is the old UK movie “Kes.”
Ken Loach insisted on keeping the genuine Yorkshire dialect of its setting, Barnsley. Could have used subtitles for some of that.
