Again I don't hate them. I'd like to see them get worse next season because of the pick but beyond that I have no strong feelings.

Jiri is right. That's why I hate them.

I think the Knights are a great story for the NHL and arguably their greatest expansion success as they are the more popular than the Raiders in Las Vegas. I'm okay with being jealous about success but I don't know how anyone could hate them as they have earned everything so far by being aggressive and shrewd at a time when half the NHL organizations flounder in constant mediocrity.

They'll still get what they want, and gladly pay their tiny fine out of the trillion dollars in the safe.

Let them fight. Best case scenario to me is tampering is proven, Vegas is punished, and Marner ends up in LA or Anaheim. Makes the division harder for Vegas/Edmonton now and gives us a better shot at their 2026 1st being a lottery pick. Pietrangelo on LTIR, no Marner, aging core that looks like it's running out of steam, and tampering penalties? Their management might not be able to flip this situation this time

If the accusations turn out to be true, the penalties could really help our 2026 pick from Vegas. Would love a lottery win from the Vegas pick - that would be poetic.
|
Knowing our luck the league would void their 2026 1st not caring we held it instead of them. I am kidding of course but this team does have crap luck.

Saying that is like saying you admire foreign scam companies that trick people out of millions a year because they found a loophole to expose the system and are aggressive.

-band Wagoners
-no loyalty to top players like fleury
-unable to keep edmonton down lately.
-Top players we wanted ended up there, Stone, Eichel.

All true, but aren't all fans calling for anyone over 30 and earning more than $5M to be traded every year? They don't show the loyalty because 99% of the players show no loyalty. More teams should do it, which Conroy has started doing now.

Well, hopefully something happens out of this so that Marner goes elsewhere, Vegas becomes demoralized to start the season, flounders to the bottom of the standings and the Flames get McKenna.

There is no loop hole, what they do is illegal. It's finding them that is the problem.

To fair, they are not the only club,
I just love, when the top free agent is signed 2 minutes into UFA
Or the famous LTIR loop hole (Tampa, Panthers, Oilers, Knights, etc)

Best punishment for Vegas would be to have their 1st round pick in 2026 to be 1st overall and they can ruminate on trading McKenna for Hanifin for years and years

That wouldn't be fair.
Maybe just require them to play all season with 25% less cap....so 70MMish...

What would the league do, if Tavares talks to McDiver and tells him that I would sign a home town discount so the team can sign you and we can break the drought together and bring the Cup home?

Isn't Friedman kind of tampering for the Leafs and Rogers Corp but issuing a threat to Vegas. Feels like market manipulation to me without evidence that Vegas is actually tampering..

If there are indications that tampering is occurring, the league should be looking into it regardless of what the team being tampered with wants to do about it. GMs shouldn't be put in the position to get a snitch reputation.
Like when media reported that contract talks with Kylington broke down because the Caps found a way to get in his ear before July 1st. If the media people reporting it have specific access granted by the league, the league should have investigated and asked them to provide the information. It makes the league look like a joke when they have rules about it, claim that they are going to crack down on it, but then do nothing when the evidence is right there that it happened.
And no, I am not naïve enough to think that it isn't something that happens every year. Of course it does, and that is the problem. It's also something that is more damaging to certain markets. A team like the Flames for example is much more susceptible if one of the teams from a premiere market are leaking their interest to a player than the other way around.
