Bubble guys (I think we should entertain offers) for the right price:
Coleman
Pospisil
Sharky

Surely CC listens to every offer and considers anything that will improve the team, no?
No one should be untouchable, just high priced.
There should be no shame in asking a player to waive a NTC if another team offers a blockbuster package. But maybe keep it confidential or deny that it happened.

Vegas would have to low ball because they have literally no futures.
I scanned their prospect lists to see if there is a single intriguing name.
There isn't.

It sounds like Andersson does not want to extend, period. He wants to play out the season and try to increase his value in the market. It's a gamble for the Flames, because if Andersson doesn't rebound after a so-so 2024-25, or he gets injured, his value goes down. And now he's a rental, which narrows the market further.
Basically, a player who won't extend is worth less than one who will.
|
Yeah… not sure who wouldn’t understand your last point. …. I wouldn’t expect many players to extend with a team they haven’t even played a day with yet. Because it’s a rare bonus that a player would do that for a team.

They won't be moving Coronato just after they signed him. Same with Bahl.

We don't know the details. But we know that in general, the closer a player gets to free agency the less leverage management has, and the worse the return will be.
The offers may not be great. But a deal you don't like today may still be better than the deal you'll get tomorrow.

The roster would make more sense if they did move Coleman. We have too many wingers.
Sharangovich is the guy who worries me though. What is he? Last years model or the version from the year before.

Neither are signed yet.
I am high on Zary so wouldn't want him dealt at all unless it's for a top liner.
Frost on the other hand is ok. I would deal him easily for the right offer. Could be an add on to Ras to replace the center we might get back.

I suspect it’s as much to do with teams trying to leverage his stinker of a season to bring down his AAV as it is him choosing where to go.
Might be he doesn’t want to sign an 8 year deal right now anywhere because teams won’t be meeting what he thinks he’s worth.

I don't think the frustration is with not moving him yesterday.
But I believe their is justified frustration over the point that the player with a limited NTC is exercising his power to not re-sign and it's going to make the return the Flames get more equal to that of a rental / the Hanifin deal.
And the frustration comes from many people seeing this as the likely outcome last offseason and the Flames not maximizing the value of a depreciating asset by moving him then.
The second Parekh fell to the Flames at their pick they should have even aggressively shopping Andersson. They had drafted his replacement and already had Weegar locked in long term.

If the Flames were as active on every draft, July 1, and trade deadline as some posters want them to be, we'd be Buffalo.

I refuse to be outraged until there is something to be outraged about. Going into the season with Rasmus may not be ideal but pretty sure they got a great return for Markstrom over the summer and kings ransom for Lindholm with no extension before deadline. The Hanifin deal was slightly underwhelming but different player, market conditions and Rasmus plays a more premium position.
The Flames were not going to move Andersson last year, they still probably would like to keep him on a good deal. He is only 28, plays a premium position, developed by the org and clearly is tough as nails considering the injury he played on. Talking about “they should have traded him last year” is pointless because the Flames did not want to move on and probably still would rather not. It’s not as cut and dry as some people are making it to be, this is a complicated situation Conroy is navigating.

man if that Flames truly would still rather not move on from Andersson, then there are even bigger problems to be concerned about.
