Yeah it’d be 11 or 12 + Rust.
They want to “move up.”

It takes lots of time & energy to be 'in the mix' on every transaction league-wide!

Blue Jackets were runners up to Montreal for Dobson, do the Blue Jackets pivot to Andersson now? Sounds like the Islanders were asking for 14th, 20th, Voronkov and another piece for Dobson, but Columbus wouldn't go that far. Can Calgary get 14th and Voronkov for Andersson?

You are just going to continue to bash your head against that wall. At some point are you not going to accept that this club is not going to execute the kinda of burn it to the ground re-build you want?
And therefore is it not more enjoyable to accept that reality so that when players become available, including young elite players, you can actually consider it?
Elite players DO get moved. And that's my point. When they have become available, almost ALWAYS the team that acquires them win and win big. Particularly when they are young players.

Anderson has to go if these are the prices being paid. We can't wait until deadline day and all of a sudden everyone's sellers and flood the market

If Robertson happens to be the best asset we can get then do it. Can always trade other wingers to recoup assets. Ideally trading Andersson to move up in the draft is the best option, but if you arent able to do it, then why not go for Robertson?
He is much better then having some middle 6 centre and a 14th overall pick. Neither that will likely move the needle for the Flames
|
The Flames have no C depth and it is a far more important position than winger.
Sillinger + 14OA would be a starting point for adding C depth in an Andersson trade but I expect that Conroy has better offers on the table. Rumours that Bruins, Mammoth, Red Wings, Sharks, CBJ, Stars, and Senators are trying to get Andersson likely means that bigger names or bigger draft picks are being offered to Conroy.
The goal for Conroy is to trade Andersson+ for a bigger asset instead of having a team offer a package for Andersson.
Now the question becomes, who is desperate enough to make an offer that Conroy cannot refuse?
#2OA does that from the Sharks.
#4OA should do that from Utah.
#7OA becomes a little less certain, unless it is a part of a stepping stone trade to #2OA.
CBJ and DRW picks won't get it done but they keep the Sharks from offering 30OA and thinking it is a good offer.
Johnston does that from the Stars.
Robertson does not do it for the Stars unless it is a stepping stone trade to one of the draft picks above but I think all of those teams would rather get Andersson over Robertson.
RD is harder to get than LW.

Bold moves by the Islanders. They aren’t being shy about this aggressive tear down. If they trade Barzal for 4th overall, that would have them picking 1st overall, 4th overall, 16th overall and 17th overall. They could even package 16th and 17th overall for a pick around 9th-12th I bet.

Yes Evolving hockey uses a conversion factor to convert GAR to WAR or if you are a pro subber you can see it. WAR = GAR ÷ 5.4 (goals per win)

Come on Conroy. Andersson (50% retained) + Posposil + 18th overall + 32nd overall. Overpayment maybe but it takes an overpayment to get a pick that high.

Yeah, that's fine. But I mean, that's just one stat. You clearly wouldn't take, for example, Hischier over McDavid or Robertson over Jack Hughes.

I agree and we cant say that we have a guy like Hintz either that just has great chemistry or that our supporting cast is as good for him to thrive. However, both him and Rantannen are elite and hes not that much worse than Rantannen based on that so if you are under a mandate from Murray Edwards to make playoff revenue, you'd have to consider it. I'm a team build through the draft guy but we all know that's probably not Conroy's marching orders...
