I wouldn’t rule anything out with Dallas… they’re changing the team to try and push them over the edge to get to a cup final..
I’d argue anything’s on the table for the right price.

Anderson 50% retained for
Robertson
Mavrik Bourque (sweetener to offset the cap dump of Robertson )

No I'm not. He isn't Connor McDavid. That is a stupidly large return for a current 70 point C.

Problem no one is talking about is all of them look at the depth chart. Huby probably not going anywhere Coleman another three years, Farabee locked for years. Zary? Where does he play?
We bring in another left wing long term our prospects are going to look at the numbers and want out. That problem is probably two year’s away but it will be a problem. If it costs a Battaglia or I Dar Suniev! ( although I would hate that) to trade into the top ten and get a Center i say you do it.

Chychrun was 24 years old with 2 years left on his deal though. I'd love that return for Andersson but not sure it's coming. Even a 1st and 2nd is good though.

Would only trade for Robertson if it was to flip him to another team to get a pick in the top 7 of the draft. Would get the flames within range of moving up to get Frondell or Misa.

If Wyatt Johnston was a Flame, would you consider trading him for a 29 year old top 4 D, a 33 year old winger and two late firsts? You’d laugh at that offer.
Sure, call him a 70 point C, conveniently leave out the fact that he’s 22 and in the mix to make our Olympic team

Flames should stay away from Robertson. I don't think he's the type of player you build around. Him and Huberdeau as your top players is not a recipe for playoff success. That's a path that leads right back to underachieving. Acquisition cost plus he's going to need a big contract. He's not worth the price in assets and dollars.

7 you could walk out with Obrien?
I think Obrien is a little underrated in this draft. High end vision and passing. Good frame, good skater, can take over an offensive zone. Big fan.

I would be happy with Obrien for sure. But Misa is the dream scenario. If the flames somehow got to 7th/8th overall after giving up say Andersson (50% retained) + Posposil + 32nd overall, I would then look to trade 18th overall + 7th/8th overall + Mews + Gridin/Battaglia to get to 2nd/3rd overall.
Moot point because these kind of trades never seem to happen but here’s hoping this is a different kind of draft.

Have to get the best asset for andersson. If it is a top line winger who is only 2 years older than Zary, you do it. Might force us to play Zary at C if there is no other upgrade available at that position. Maybe Zary is the answer at C. If acquiring Robertson helps to expedite this experiment, that’s not a bad thing.

Wouldn’t do that myself.
Happily walk out if the draft with Obrien, Cootes, Zonnon in the first round.
Personally dont see a lot of difference in the top end centers including misa.
All things being equal would i take Misa? Yes. However the cost is too much, the difference too little in my opinion and we need more than one center.
I think Zonnon is really underrated and wouldnt be aghast if they took him at 18.

CGY: 21%
So what exactly do we think a 19 year old Parekh is going to do to those stats? Do we think the Flames are suddenly going to have a better PP than EDM and FLA and the rest of these teams? Can we reasonably expect that it would suddenly be better than VAN's (with Hughes)?
Hockey is a team game. And one player just doesn't change the standings much. Especially a 19 year old player
|
Not to mention what that boils down to.
Flames improve their powerplay by a whole percentage point with Parekh manning the point ... great news. Equals 2.2 goals on the season.
Missing the minute munching, tough situations, 5 on 5 guy has a greater impact than that.

If we can land O'Brien, no way I trade a ton to move up any further. He could be the best center in this draft. Why pay a ton more? Just draft him if you can land the pick needed to take him.

I think O'Brien has a chance of being a 2nd line centre in the NHL
I think Misa has a chance of being a 1st line centre
That's the gap in my view. It's not small.
(But I'd be thrilled w/ either of them)
