If the greased pigs can move Nurse, maybe Huberdeau is movable? I actually like the new and improved Huby a lot but moving a still underperforming 10.5 million older player is a good move for this re-tool-build-whatever

Personally, no as I think Zary can be a good C and has lots of skill.
But if org thinks he is a winger, then okay.

Huby at $5.25 (50% retained) starts to look a lot better for teams looking to get better. In fact they could do a lot worse. Still unlikely to move, but stranger things have happened. Whether Murray would be on board is another thing.

I would probably lean yes.
Were his character issues that he maybe crossed a line chirping guys? I remember reading how he would say to guys in junior that he’d be making 6 million while guys he was playing against would be making 6 hundred, or something like that. Surely that can’t be it? I’d bet far worse is said on the ice nearly every single game.
I like Zary and I think the Flames do too but there’s not enough spots for all the LHS wingers. The Flames bringing in Frost, I think, is telling as to their projection for Zary at C. At some point one of them or more, probably, is going to have to move. Even two-three years down the road you’re still looking at a group of Zary, Farabee, Basha, Posposil, Battaglia, Suniev, Gridin. Sure, they all aren’t going to make it but on the other hand the Flames, likely, will have more on the depth chart after another 2-3 drafts.
At the same time, there’s a clear need at LD. I suppose the question is, though, does Byram fit the profile. Maybe they would be better off pursuing Hague.
I would definitely give it a strong look and if it is one for one, I probably would. That said, I’d need to dig in on these character issues. Are they legitimate, or is it just misplaced rumours/speculation?

Some have speculated that attitude issues in the case of outgoing BUF players are a fabrication of that org to help justify moving guys out for peanuts.
If Flames want him, they will have done their homework and be satisfied there are no issues. IMO

I seem to remember last year's draft lead up being crazy as well only for nothing to happen.
I'm sure phones are ringing, but I expect a pretty quiet day in terms of big names being traded.

How would that make any sense for the Sabres?

Still think the Oilers would have to add. And Anaheim does not really need dmen.

I still think if and when Ekblad hits the UFA market and moves on from the Panthers, they'll be going hard after Andersson. And I would bet Samoskevich being the centerpiece coming back.

That wouldn't be terrible, Samoskevich and a 1st. He showed flashes of brilliance in the regular season, and will likely put up 20/20 this year. I guess the only concern is he's a winger and any 1st round pick from them will be late in the draft.

He fits the age group and he’s a good player with lots of runway left, but that feels like a very underwhelming return in terms of what we actually need if he’d be the centerpiece.

They don’t have a first round pick in the next 3 years. Have no idea how they would have what the Flames want.

The Bo chirp was he told some guy in the dub that next year that guy would be working 9 to 5 and he’d be making 925K. Great burn actually hardly worth being branded as an attitude problem.

Devine looks like a good prospect too but after that it falls off the cliff for the Panthers. They did get a second for next year from Washington which is supposed to be a good draft plus have their own.

I remember this as well. A lot of people here wanted the Flames to get another pick in the top 10 to pick Iggy, myself included.
Hope the Flames are active tomorrow but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they’re not.

Crazy speculation regarding Darnell Nurse right now:
Bob Stauffer stated earlier that Oiler fans will “have something to talk about” soon. Since then, Darnell Nurse has turned off his IG comments and has removed ‘Oilers’ from his bio
Kane said on Canucks TV that he found out a couple days prior to the trade announcement that he was going to Vancouver. Maybe Nurse has been given the same heads up.
|
A lot of speculation on X that there's a Nurse for Jarry swap happening. Coupled with Mrtka's last minute interview will the Oilers and Pittsburgh having picks in the range he's projected to go...Dubas wouldn't possibly be dumb enough to do Nurse for Jarry + #12......would he??

The Oilers should be having to add to get rid of Dumbbell's contract and not getting more.

Everyone is lining up to help out the Oilers? Just like the other teams minus the Panthers and refs in the playoffs?
I'm shocked!
