Flames have their extension offer, he's under contract for 1 more year.. Yes.. Do they love the player...Yes... but it's his camps choice what he wants to do and he's earned this opportunity. Cruel business sometimes.
Flames are fielding offers and teams are exploring available options on RHD.
Flames will be as friendly as possible to maximize return but as Conroy has shown he will sell if he gets his ask extension or not.

Chicago blew it up to try and tank for Bedard - big deal. Celebrini is better, and McKenna might be too. Trying to tank for a specific player is no way to run an organization - plan it out, do what is best for your organization WHEN it is best to do so. In the long run, that is a better way to manage the team.

Emotions are high obviously and I would say higher on his camps side. We all listened to his post season press conference. He loves it here, believes in the vision but your window to earn your life income in the game is very small.

Yet Chicago is in a great position, it's not all about Bedard.
They have great young players, great prospects and toms of draft picks.
They are right on schedule.
Chicago did not tank for Bedard. They tanked for great draft picks.

……I’m not convinced, yet.
Buffalo is in a great position by this rationale.

Make no mistake. They tanked for Bedard. It was obvious.

They rushed it. And that will result in a longer rebuild, IMO. Not sure how you call the worst team in the league for the last 3 years 'right on schedule', but okay.

They have no insulators for their young guys.
I know the hubbub about Bedard wanting to leave is all probably BS, but it does show that there's probably some frustration from players that the team has been god awful for a few years in a row.
You need vets and quality middle-age players to help those young players realize their potential. And now, in order to get those older players to insulate their young guys, they'll have to use all the accrued draft capital and prospects to get them unless they overpay in Free Agency.

Exactly. Until they actually start to demonstrate they are improving, they’re not.
They’re a bottom feeder and have quite a way to go to even get to the point of playing important games in February let alone April.

Chicago has missed the playoffs 8 years in a row. Over that time they have finished:
25th
20th
23rd
21st
27th
30th
31st
31st
They have BY FAR, the worst record in the league over those 8 seasons.
'Right on schedule!'

Surrounding your shiny piece of gold with crusty poo isn't ideal.

A few years ago a large segment of this board was all about how LA had all these great young pieces and was about to explode. Never happened.

To be fair, they kind of rushed the rebuild when they started having a little success and made moves that set them back in the long run. If they had Vilardi and Faber, I think they'd be a better team than they are right now.

Agreed and tied to your prior post around how much the actual players value Rasmus, I wouldn't be shocked at all if Weegar was very open, honest and straight forward to CC on how strongly he feels Ras should stay a Flame and how it changes things for him if he is moved.

Suspect they are ####ty for at least another 4-5 years, there is no reason to think they they will be good anytime soon. Their defence is horrific, it should be bad enough to completely bury the career of Spencer Knight. Forwards are meh, but they did successful absolutely suck for a very very long time to get “right on schedule” and if losing is the goal should remain on schedule for the next 4-5 years.

But isn’t this kind of the point - they were bad when they weren’t trying to tank and ended up drafting 25, 20,23,21,27
So they decided let’s completely restart fresh because those 5 years of “trying” didn’t work
So if we’re going to say the tank didnt work (and we’ll see if the next few years) the non tank approach for them also wasn’t working

They had one of the oldest teams. This vet stuff is nonsense.
