Fun fact, the Oilers have allowed more goals in those 35 years than any other team.

Oh greased pigman needed something to feel better about after squandering the last finals they'll see with mcdavid?
How many series wins would they have if they didn't win that 4th lottery?
Yeah.. so maybe dont try and flex on a team that's been the recipient of exactly 0 in their existence.
Congrats to the oilers on breaking the .500 mark over 35 years of hockey after 10 years of McDavid.

At least they're keeping their streak of losing to the eventual cup winner going...there's that.

They would have had to lock up Hall long term. Hyman would have stayed in Toronto. They’d still be hanging onto the hopes of the Russian Slider and Pizzaboy.

Speculation from Stauffer in the Oilers interest in signing Carter Hart. Not unexpected, but you would hope everyone would turn on the Oilers if they even showed interest in bringing him in after the trial. Gross.

I wouldn't say it's a slam dunk that Hart IS available on July 25 or after...along with the rest of that scumbucket crew. Nor has Bettman stated whether they can (even if found "Not Guilty") still play in the NHL.

Even notwithstanding whether or not they can get away with it, which Katz will try given his own checkered history being a creepy pedo - Can't see Carter Hart being their plan, we won't know if he's headed to jail until at least July 24... they're going to have to have a plan in place well before that.

I've talked to Carter a couple of times, and I think he's - I was really impressed the time I met him. This is a tough case, this one you're talking about. It's going to get ruled by a judge, not by a jury.

I am so baffled by Leon and now McWhinypants even considering signing there. They could live in virtually any city in the league and on a top 20 team their addition would instantly make that team a contender. Any team that has been managed competently and has a proper balance would easily add 10-15 wins.
I don't get it.

It's the cult of Edmonton... seems like they got sucked in to it. In order to help themselves cope they do this thing where they tell each other how great it is there, led by a lot of boorish loudmouths like Stauffer, and eventually they start believing it instead of just admitting most of them live there for work opportunities and endure it for higher wages but would rather be somewhere else if they could.
I totally agree though seeing a soon to be 29 year old trading away more years of his prime to live there every winter when he could literally pick his spot quality of life wise is staggering.
I am sure he will stay though, there's no way his best buddy would have re-upped last summer without knowing it, their wives are close and McDavid's wife likes to pretend she's some kind of high end fashionista restauranteur trading on McDavid's name and all the homers there and has a couple businesses in the city.
It's crazy too because his rationale is that it's a good place to win right now, but if he leaves they are 100% a lottery team, and so if he were to go to a team that was already a contender without him they would be way stronger than the oilers. It's total nonsense.
Imagine he went to Tampa to stick it to the Panthers and plays with Hedman, Point, Hagel, Cirelli, Kucherov, Guentzel, Vasilevsky and co... you can't tell me they aren't immediately better than the oilers.

If he sign with the Lightning, he can have a chance to knock Panthers out in the playoff that alone should be enticing, also signing there where there is no tax, a 7 year contract will just be as good as 8 year in Edmonton.

I wonder about whether or not the 4 nations had any effect on him; Mavi wasn’t great, had to take a regular shift, and wasn’t guaranteed ice time. Still an elite player, but one of a few instead of one of one. And described it as an amazing team experience. I’m not sure if he has ever won anything like a team trophy as an adult. (Hehheh we know the answer as a pro!)
Wouldn’t a Tampa or Florida or Carolina with great taxes and weather and being a part of the greater good be appealing? Or maybe his ego won’t let him.

It would definitely add some spice to the Tampa-Florida rivalry as well. I bet league execs would be drooling over that prospect because it would greatly increase exposure for the league.

I’d suddenly take an interest in those 4 games a season and especially the playoffs.

1 week ago the Panthers steam rolled the Oilers to become back to back champs.

What also funny is that he signed with the Lightning, meet Panthers in the first round and Lightning loses to Panthers in 7. Proves that it's not the Oilers, it's him afterall.

All I can get

He's probably weighing the likelihood of the Oilers reaching the finals again next year. It's not a six team league anymore.
At some point the wheels fall off the Oilers as they age out, and without a steady stream of quality youngsters the odds will get longer for a repeat. One and Done at best.

Draisaitl re-signed because he knows he’s a fraud
If McDavid extends he gets to keep batting in freebies and the masquerade continues
If McDavid leaves then Draisaitl is the loyal hero and the unwashed masses will love him forever

Will the Greased fans still love him after McDiver leaves and he becomes a 70 points player getting paid $14M and Greased Pigs miss the playoff?
