They could trade Bouchard. That would provide an attractive piece and free up salary for a better goalie.

It seems inevitable.
Would add a wrinkle to the BOA considering Dustin Wolf was Carter Hart's backup for one year in Everett.

Nor do they have the cap space. They actually get pretty good returns for what they pay the current tandem. I could understand the hate if they were paying them $10 mil between the two but at $3.6m combined what do you really expect to get?

I don't care about solving the oilers problems. I hope they aren't solved. I hope they continue to have them indefinitely as a direct result of their past and current ineptitude.
The oilers CAN.... toil in mediocrity, or at least in that agonizing space of being close but not good enough to win.
Their regression from aging out cannot happen soon enough.
I'm sick of resting my hopes on bad teams every spring to end these f-ers.

I guess this is how they cope with failure and the fact that in that timespan they have no more cups than the Flames.

What's *actually* embarrassing is if you compared the Oilers' playoff record to teams with similar (yet, inevitably, far less fortunate) draft histories over the past two decades. How's that "high draft pick / cup win" ratio going up there, Bob?

I can see Connor McDavid star in a reality TV show like LeBron James did with "The Decision."
Coming soon, summer 2026.

I like telling Oilers fans that for every #1 pick you lose a Cup.
So...they won 5 Cups..but got 4 #1 picks so....they're down to 1 Cup.
One is the Ultimate Championship and the other is the Ultimate Suck. It makes sense that they should cancel each other out.

Oilers 1st overalls in the last 15 years: 4
Flames 1st overalls in 40 years: 0
That level of failure has landed them 0 cups

All over that cesspool that they post in, they are so excited for Carter Hart. And like usual greaser fashion, they have already decided that he will go there because everyone in the world wants to go there (there are a number of posts about Marner going there on the cheap because "he wants to win".) so naturally he will go there for little money. And he will be an immediate vezina candidate because nothing says preparing for the season like taking nearly 2 years off of hockey and going through a stressful trial. But to hedge their bets they also want to shop skinner around for a 1 for 1 for Gibson or Demko, because both those clubs will want a proven playoff performer like Skinner or Pickard.
