Robertson I have to imagine would be far more attractive to teams like San Jose / Chicago in the top 5. If we could make this trade with Dallas and flip him for a top 5 pick and finally get our #1C that would be very savvy from Conroy

I really think that 3-team deal would work for each team… at least as far as the core pieces (Dallas gets Andersson; Chicago gets Robertson; Calgary gets a top 3 pick). The additional pieces (18th overall, Posposil, 32nd overall) could be the negotiating pieces to get the deal across the line.

Teams don't trade away their star wingers unless there is a reason. And he is a big reason Dallas has had no playoff success.

He wasn't good this year, but he was fine the two prior seasons.
I don't particularly want a winger. So for that reason, I'm not keen. Plus I want more assets for Andersson, not less.
Teams trade star wingers for lots of reasons. The Avs traded theirs. Calgary traded theirs. Probabkly for the same reason Dallas did - to get ahead of the contract expiry. Robertson's ends next off season. He's making $7.7 now and I bet he wants 2-3M more.
