You could trade a first conditional on which pick goes to Carolina (so you would either get the 2026 or 2027 depending on how the conditions of the Carolina deal go)

Yeah I know some teams have included specific clauses about protected picks (i.e. 2026) and if they trade the potential unprotected compensatory pick (i.e. 2027) in advance, the earlier pick becomes unprotected, so I wonder how it works exactly if that clause isn’t specifically added.
Because technically Dallas still owns their 2027 1st currently, it’s just ‘tied up’. IDK someone with better knowledge of trade rules than me can comment lol

Do we really want to do that after what we just went through?
Dallas just isn’t a good trade partner. I doubt they want to add a3rd 1st out the door to deplete their roster.
We can probably get a 1st for Andersson and Coleman without having to take bs k a salary dump and healthy scratches.

All I'm speaking to is the ability to trade conditional picks. The Florida pick we got was conditional on which one they sent to Philly, it was already tied up in the Giroux deal.

Can Bourque play C at the NHL level? Iirc he’s been used on the wing in Dallas. Maybe he’s blocked but he doesn’t have the ideal nhl center frame.
