Hearing craig talk, it sounds like and Andersson trade isn't pressing.
I get the sense that the Flames won't be very active with trades before the draft.
Nor does it sound like we should expect any UFAs to be signed.

How is this supposed to work? Who's taking dumba at $3.75m for another year? Marchment is solid for $4.5m and prob goes.

I would overpay the sharks for Misa. Him and Parekh are good buddies. Mews, Andersson, 18. Whatever

Walman had played 1 playoff game in his entire career at the time of the trade. It was almost an accidental appearance in the lineup where he got 15:24 in icetime. The other playoff runs you speak of were him diligently watching the playoffs from his couch.
If you are talking about the number of times he could make the playoffs under his current contract, sure it is two. Not sure that means much though when the player sucks.
But yes, Walman sucks.

Reinhart is elite, less than $9 mil
Tkachuk is elite less than $10 mil
Verhaeghe at $7M, Jones $7M, Forsling less than $6mil.
None of these guys are 30 except Jones who is 30.
Bob is the only question, but he makes $10 mil so it's not like his contract coming up hurts them that bad. I could see Ekblad staying too for around $8M
Marchand probably stays for cheap too.

Gonna be interesting to see what Dallas does now with the Duchene signing.
1) Benn - league min, or chase a little more $’s elsewhere on a contender? Is he loyal enough to take a 90% discount?
2) Dumba and/or Marchment. Who goes?
3) Robertson - Are the rumors true? Are teams like Utah, Anaheim, Carolina swimming in picks/youth gonna pursue this guy?
4) Seguin - Contract is buyout proof, 2 years left at 9.85m. Do the Stars deem it better to just ask him to waive his NMC or are they tied to Seguin?

I'm pretty sure SJS would only trade it for Parekh out of CGY.
They don't need a goalie, so would you trade Wolf + Zary? I probably wouldn't.

Zito said he thinks he can keep them all. I'll believe it when I see it.
Good thing is if that happens, it will pretty much ensure that the Oilers aren't winning the cup with McDavid and Draisaitl.

If I am Benny and I am leaving 2-3M AAV on the table I would be gunning for a NMC for as long as possible.

Probably better to trade up with multiple trades. Which is next to impossible. But we can dream

^ Seravalli on Daily Faceoff, actually speculated that Bennett($7.5M) would end up signing for a smaller cap hit than Boeser($8.5M) and Marchand($8.0M).

Everyone is making a huge deal about the state tax with the back to back wins but I don't think anyone took massive discounts to play in Florida.
Barkov - 2022 - $10M - 5th highest paid center in the league
Tkachuk -2022 - $9.5M -3rd highest paid LW in the league
Reinhart - 2024 - $8.6M - 8th highest paid RW in the league
Ekblad - 2017 - 7th highest paid defenseman
Bobrovsky - 2019 - 2nd highest paid goalie
Their build/salaries look a lot like Chicago's when they won their cups. Florida is just unique in the fact that they built a championship team during the flat cap and now the cap is exploding. If the cap had jumped up right after Chicago's 2013 cup it would've looked the same.

It has already been rumoured that the Sharks are interested in Andersson if they cannot land Ekblad.
It makes sense because they need established D who can play top pair this season so they can stop running Ferraro and Liljegren as their top pair. As much as they may want a prospect too, the need is to upgrade their D group immediately so that they can start winning with their new core built around Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, etc.
I think the Sharks will go after Andersson and Provorov as their immediate top pair upgrade. Dickinson likely needs 3-5 years before he is ready to be the #1LD and "the future prospect" for the #1RD is like 5-6 years out since they are not in the organization yet.

This is why I think an Andersson trade before (or at) the draft is unlikely. Why would anyone pay assets to get Andersson when they could wait four days and possibly sign Ekblad?
Andersson trade isn't happening until Ekblad signs, IMO.

Perhaps. Could very likely turn out that way.
But, if you’re Columbus for example and signing Ekblad seems unlikely, maybe you prioritize Andersson.

I heard those rumours as well, and I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted Andersson, I just doubt they would want to trade the #2 pick for him and #18, or other assets. #30 from Dallas this year, or the EDM 1st next year, would probably be the centrepiece in such a trade.

18th would be fine for them imo and it is in line with other trades for players like Andersson and want him. They already have a tonne of prospects and 18th will be a project.

He can play on the cheap and get bonused that will count towards 26.27 cap.
Nill brought it up already
