It's nice to see that the Panthers dominated the Oilers so their fans don't have any excuses.

The real questions is if McDavid stays or not. It's a huge risk for him if he wants to win a cup. He will be 29 next season. Realistically, McDavid has 7 years of prime hockey left.

Next year, the Oilers will be more-or-less the same team unless they can make trades, but they don't have any assets to trade. Skinner and Pickard are signed for 1 more year. They have no draft picks. They have no prospects coming up. Perry, who was their 3rd best forward down the stretch, is going to retire. Guys like Nothing Happens, Hyman, Kane, Ekholm, etc are 1 year older.

The following year is when they will have a lot of cap space freed up but they will have to sign McDavid for somewhere near league maximum, Pissy is making 14M, Nurse 9.25M, and Bouchard 10+M. Hyman and Nothing Happens who will be 35 and 34 respectively at a combined 10.625M. Janmark who will be ineffective. Jack Campbell still on the books. This will be in the realm of $65M, and they will need to have to sign 7 starting forwards, 5 starting D, a starting goalie and backup. Odds are low that any prospects they have are on entry level contracts playing a pivotal role on the team. The cap is projected to be 104M, so they'll have an average of 3M per player to fill their roster. This will mean more of the same thing - lack of depth and youth and they will be that much older.

McDavid, please think for yourself, get out of Edmonton and go win a cup while you can.

Mcdavid clock is ticking. No top line center has won at the age of 30 plus since the lockout.

Also no team has won the cup with cap hits higher than 10M. Pissy jumps to 14 next season. Bouchard 11 plus and McDavid at 12.5. Even getting to 10 saw incremental increases.

I don't get how some of them think they disproved the prediction Oilers would get worse this year. This year against the same team, they basically got swept. Which almost happened last year, but they won 3 in a row.

Their marginally same to worse. Still rely on two now older guys to play all night, who also disappear late into the finals. Goaltending is not improved, and their cap is about to be destroyed.

Anyways, I just found that take to be the most out of touch.

This was the most lopsided 6 game finals in history...not just being a homer. Panthers set a record for time with the lead.

Oilers set a record for time trailing.

Remember how cocky they were? "let them win one so we can win it at home"
3 blowouts, down by 2+ in EVERY GAME lol.

Most exciting finals ever! remember that...it was boring as hell after game 2 (in a good way) Even the handshake line they barley said a word because it was such a non contest.

The score was 30-17 and the oilers won 2 games in overtime one off a fluke bounce and another last minute on a delay of game penalty.

4-2 makes it seem like it was somewhat close. It wasn’t. It was a beat down and the numbers prove it along with Florida winning. Even when trailing at no point did it feel like Florida s was in danger.

Not true. Crosby was 30 in 2017.

Pretty pathetic that they blame is on sports gambling. Like Edmonton is the only place there is sports gambling.

Something ####ty places just produce ####ty fans.

I think it was Simpson who said that a team captained by the Selke winner is probably pretty focused on responsible play. I actually agree with something that taint guzzler said.

Such a blowout that McDavid and Draisaitl did not play a shift in the last 5 minutes of an elimination game. Even after the Oilers scored a goal.

Less than 7.

He's been played 30 minutes a night every night for a decade. That's a LOT of miles logged already. I would not be surprised to see him start to decline noticeably when he's 32 or 33.

Corey Perry is the first player since Brian Propp (1980 to 1991) to lose in 5 consecutive Stanely Cup Finals.
