The lack of secondary scoring hurt the Oilers in the Finals which added more pressure on McDavid. They expect him to everything and he can't do it alone.

He was basically gm, coach, player.
Edmonton be bending over for him for years, bring in his agent, minor hockey coach, players he wanted (Connor brown??)
Doesn't have to play D, cherry picks, floats, gets away with diving and crying constantly to refs all game, every PP full 2 min etc. I swear I saw him calling line changes for knobby too
Anywhere else he might have to learn to play the game
|
And when he learns to play the game properly, which won't ever happen in Stinktown, he will win a Stanley Cup.

The risk of going into the season with him without an extension is insane. If its truely only Toronto they won't even get the big return
|
They don't have a choice. He has a NMC and the PR disaster of trading him would be brutal. They will publically say they are having negotiations and you will hear that all year unless they play the he doesn't want to talk contract until seasons end card. If you are McDavid and your intent is the Leafs why are you going to waive your NMC so that the team you are going to loses key assets to the team you are leaving? They have to let him walk, you still have him for one more run.

He has earned the right at this stage of his career now to go after his dream, to be the hero that comes home and breaks the drought. What is the draw to stay in Edmonton? Winning a Cup? That would be nice and I am sure he would love it but he will always be in Wayne's shadow there. Draisaitl? Sure they are good friends but when has being friends with teammates stopped a guy from moving on? His wife's restaurant? Big deal, she can open one in Toronto as well. Toronto is where he trains in the offseason with his actual best friend Austin Matthews, his family and friends are there, it's where he spent his whole life wanting to play. Have you ever seen Connor McDavid's Leaf memorabilia collection? It's impressive. The source I have for this is rock solid, he is going to sign with the Leafs.
|
I want him to string the Oilers along so they can't trade him for a big haul.

So you don't have to spend another winter in Edmonton
Its not all that different from Tkachuk who only gave them 5 teams...3 were probably realistic

Postgame coverage ends and Sportsnet immediately says would you like to watch Florida dominate the Oilers again? In 30. F Yes, don’t mind if I do!

He wears oilers colours to the broadcasts and after going turncloak on us in a very obvious way his guys lose. I give him some grief by quoting the hockey episode where Homer tells the kids that whoever loses, don't come home!
Like jesus lol, calm down. I don't hate the guy at all. Its all in good fun.
Just more oiler ribbing, from one of the true fans getting his licks in too.

Wondering the same thing.
They have no prospects or draft picks. Unless they can create cap space and sign some depth I don’t see him winning in Edmonton. Probably in his best interest to move onto another team. Tough call for sure.

when its broken down to 30mins you see how dominating it was...what planet is Ron on saying the Oilers outplayed the Panthers and the Panthers "didn't look good" like he is paid to talk about hockey and that is a fireable offense.
They are sturuggling to find an Oiler scoring chance in these highlights.

Not sure if said, but must be extra wild for McDavid watching his old teammate get the Conn Smythe.

Anything short of an 8 year deal under 17M will be a PR disaster...there will be nothing else talked about until its done, or isn't. Going into the season with McDavid a pending UFA would be wild. (and I'm here for it)

Evander Kane has no class. Didn't even come out to shake hands when the game was over.
