Now to be referred to the “HYRDA of the future” this 3 headed monster is here for the long haul.

No news this morning, I did ask about the report for moving up and then someone saying it was false and all I was told was “every scenario is open”

Calgary really wants one of the top centres this year, they’re trying to get into that range as outside of Schaefer they feel the run on them will go early.
Hey Royle, anything on Raz?

The centers may jump ahead of wingers and D men.

Positional premium in a weak draft. Which means the Flames will have to reach down a bit to get a C or find a way to jump up 4 to 6 spots to get into the Center group after 10 OA (I.E Cootes, Reschny , Maybe McQueen et al)

I mean if I were the Flames I would also be trying everything I could to get into the Frondell, Misa, Hagens range too. They're the real gems of this draft.

Interesting.

Out of the teams ahead of the Flames, which ones could be enticed to move their pick? Or, in other words, which teams are well situated at C that would consider moving a pick that could have got them one of the top C’s in this draft? Columbus, perhaps? They seem like they have a pretty solid pipeline. Buffalo, maybe?

I think teams are loathe to give up these picks, particularly if that pick can get them a player that projects to be a high profile C. You can never have enough. It would have to be a pretty compelling package.

I hope there is a way for the Flames to do it but I think it is going to be tough.

Maybe they are both dinks, and that’s why Buffalo wants to move them…

Unpopular opinion, but if trading Coronato gets us a good, young top-6 center, I say go for it. The only two that I consider untouchables are Parekh and Wolf.

Let’s just say O’Brien (for example) slides to 9. Would you trade Coronato to Buffalo for that pick?

The Coronato Flames thing is working so well.

Its never going to happen, Flames are not going to sign a brand new contract only to trade the player a month later

Zary and Andersson could get 9.

Buffalo can take all offseason and during the season to try and extend Andersson. If not, flip him at the deadline.

I think if the Flames did that it would be advisable to Wolf, Parekh and all other young players to sign the Tkachuk deal (3 yrs max) to control your own destiny. If a franchise is going to treat you like that it makes no sense for a player to make a long term commitment to a franchise. Control your own destiny and pick where you want to play at a younger age.

I doubt it, problem is Andersson is not going to resign with the Sabres,

I would guess, he is going to sign with a contender if he is traded.

Y'all make way too much out of this sometimes. You can still do right by coronato here. Again, I hesitate to see how a guy from new york would hate to play in buffalo so bad... we'd be sending him home. And if SJ, who wouldn't want to get paid millions to play hockey in California?
We're not talking about sending someone to Utah or Winnipeg here. Or edmonton.

I get the appetite not to trade him, but he's the only high value young forwards that, imo, gets us even close to 2oa convo. Gave, don't agree with you about much but I think you're absolutely dead wrong about Misa.

Not picking on you specifically dammage, but how can that be so without knowing what he's giving up?

I know there are list of assets that when combined would make Misa a terrible trade.

I think with how "weak" this draft can be, it is probably best for us to just stand pat anyway. Doesn't make sense to give up all these assets when Misa is not the answer. Just continue to build the prospect pool and accumulate picks. Our time to push in chips is not yet.

A team like the Isles though, after getting a bone thrown at them with the 1st OA pick, I think they could absolutely find a way to grab all top 3 picks. Would be wild if they could do it. The constant battle of picking between Schaefer or Misa can be solved by offering San Jose Dobson for 2nd overall. Dobson would be a better fit for San Jose than Ekblad. Isles can roll with Pulock, DeAngelo/Boqvist, and Mayfield as the RDs.

For 3rd OA from Chicago, I think a player like Barzal, assuming he would be willing to waive, would waive to play with Bedard? Barzal and Bedard are both kind of C/RWs, one is a playmaker and one is a shooter. It would work out pretty well for them. Hagens would be an excellent fit for NYI, being a fan and all. The Isles could really jumpstart a quick retool in one draft if they went this route. If they continue to not play well in 2026, then they've already initiated a rebuild with 3 strong picks and can continue to sell at the deadline with Lee and Pageau.

Relax guys, nobody is suggesting that we’re going out tomorrow to trade Coronato. It’s a thread for speculation and conjecture.

Outside of Misa and Frondell, I don't see the point of trading up for any other Center.

Weak draft or not, any one of Misa, Hagens, Frondell, Martin, Desnoyers, or O'Brien are worth backing up the truck for.
