I've never been Northern California. Southern California is great, but I would hate to live in the L.A area. Even if you live in one of the nice areas which I am sure most NHLers do, the city is just bonkers. Different stroke for different folks of course. The small towns outside of the L.A. commutershed are fantastic though, they just wouldn't be practical if you had to commute into the city all the time. I feel the same way about New York too, I could not do it and be happy.

I think this will have more bearing on Coleman and Backlund. I think Kadri’s in for the long haul.
…..btw, for all the tankers out there this is what they should be arguing for. If you want the Flames to tank, remove their two tough min. forwards and watch the bottom completely fall out. Losing Kadri would hurt but losing Coleman, or especially Backlund, I think would hurt more. Lose both? Good night.

Well, if Kadri doesn't want to move, trading him is certainly off the table (because of his NMC) until the NTC kicks in.

Why would that matter, he has an NMC,
(i.e. a team cannot trade him or waive him without the players approval)

Starting in 26/27 he has a modified NTC so he has all the NMC except for there are 19 teams he can still be traded to.
The other parts of the NMC still apply, like he cant be sent to the minors or be available in expansion draft.
Edit: Actually looks like his NMC drops completely and its just the 13 team no trade list.

If it's to move up in the draft then it probably just speaks to them not loving the depth in this draft and wanting to get one of the guys they see as a top center.
I actually wonder if Pittsburgh would do 11 for 18+32 or if Buffalo would try to trade back to get more trade ammo.
Pittsburgh probably looking for more ammo to be able to add some NHL pieces, and getting 18+32 could allow them to move back 7 spots, but gain a 1st round pick to trade for a player that helps them now.
Pick 11: Perri Pick Value - 31.99
Pick 18: Perri Pick Value - 20.94
Pick 32: Perri Pick Value - 10.38
Total Perri Pick Value - 31.32
Buffalo - similar situation where they want to make some strides next year. Might be open to gaining some trade capital by moving back in the draft:
Pick 9: Perri Pick Value - 36.66
Pick 18: Perri Pick Value - 20.94
Pick 32: Perri Pick Value - 10.38
Total Perri Pick Value - 31.32
Both of those are pretty close in value to a move from last year - Buffalo sent 11 to San Jose for 14 and 42
In terms of higher end talent it really all depends who they are targeting - if it's a player like Shane Wright I wouldn't lose sleep over them moving 18 and 32 for him.

I don’t think they get a player back that’d they win on. If a team likes and can re-sign Anderson it will get them into the top ten I’d think but then I’m not sure it is worth it get a 9th or something

I think it would at least start the conversation just because of where Utah is at in their cycle. Team wants to improve now, they have a bunch of young studs already playing and just drafted Iginla. I could see it.

Not unless Utah really values Anderson and he is willing to sign an extension there.
I have no idea on either question, but have trouble believing Utah is his preferred destination.
He also might prefer going UFA to increase his choices and payday.

I think it's all about the center, not so much the depth of the draft. We already have depth; Conroy has to know a chance at a #1 center is what is needed.
2014 was a weak draft, especially compared to the next draft in 2015 that had McDavid and Eichel who were 1st OV for sure in 2014. Draisaitl and Bennett went 3 and 4. Draisaitl is up there with anyone in the league. 2014 had 6 out of 10 players in the top 10 turn out vs 8 in 2015.
2017 was weak too, Heiskanen and Makar went 3 & 4
2018 was supposed to be weak but B Tkachuk went 4 and Hughes went 6. A lot of misses in 2018 though.
