Have any insiders heard anything on the Rasmus Andersson and Flames exchange of numbers this week?

Also.....any possibility we are in the mix to move up to 4 at all (I'm dreaming). I would gladly give up Raz + Zary ++ for it and take Desnoyers......

Marner to the Knights hurts............I hope it doesn't happen and he goes to the Ducks or Hawks or anywhere....

Martone - Bedard - Marner seems like an awesome line.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I'm Marner I'm going to San Jose. Lots of cap space so he'll get paid, out of the spotlight, and a good young core to work with especially after this draft.

I suspect Joe Thornton will be lobbying hard for SJ.

I understand he’s close with Marleau.

I don't think he would accept a trade even to Dallas, he gets to spend half the year there and can retire there afterward. He is very committed to being a Flame.
Always, always, always take exit interviews (any interviews with media actually) with a massive grain of salt. There are numerous examples of players saying things during these interviews and going the complete opposite direction later on. Doesn't even mean these players are lying either. In life, things change and that's okay. Saying something one time before doesn't make it set in stone.

If Vegas can somehow land Marner they will have 3 top 5 picks from the 2015 draft on their team. Similar formula worked for Florida collecting 3/4 of the top 4 picks in 2014.

If they did dangle William Karlsson would the Leafs be interested in a sign and trade that gets Marner for 8 years at a reduced rate and allows the Leafs to add a 2nd line 2 way C? Bennett is unlikely for Toronto if you listen to the insiders

Add in SJ offering the best area to live out of any of the likely options and it’s hard to imagine why he’d choose anywhere else.

LA maybe a close second, if he values a higher profile team/bigger fanbase over some of the other factors.

I can’t see why he would choose Vegas or Utah at this point.

Frondell seems to be the latest rumour for Chicago.

Vegas would be a great place to live. If just for the tax benefits compared to California alone

Yes. That too.

Just my hunch but I think he’ll end up in California.

In this case, I think it’s pretty accurate.

Kadri not wanting to leave is coming from multiple sources. It’s known he has his family here and, at least at this point, isn’t interested in a move. Maybe that changes a year or two from now but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

So much will depend on the team's start.

Start poor and dig a hole for yourself, having a high draft pick in sight (especially in this draft) and I could see the team more aggressively pursuing moving the vets like Kadri at that point. NMC or no NMC, nothing's off the table.

It all comes down to personal preference but after traveling to both several times.

Southern California >>> Northern California

Summerlin in Nevada is a pretty awesome place to live as well

and SLC is gorgeous too.

Saying SJ is an easy choice over the cities is crazy - all are beautiful and people have... you know... personal opinions.

i.e. Matthew Tkachuk who weeks later said he wasn't interested in re-signing.

As someone that is firmly on the side of "rebuild", it doesn't bother me that Kadri is staying. Assets would be nice of course, but I am fine with him staying.

Compare the Flames rosters with the San Jose roster even as late as last year, and you see plenty of vets. Plus San Jose had a lot of 25-29 year old players. I think the Flames move on from Andersson, but then that's pretty close to a 'scorched earth' rebuild.

I just think that the Flames out-performed expectations. Will they repeat? Tune in to find out I guess, but I have them in the bottom 5 again. When your top scorer is 35 to start the season with 67 points, it doesn't inspire much confidence that this was a down year in scoring. They played on those margins all year. I think it will be physically difficult to repeat it. Backlund did a great job defensively this year, but he is aging. Kadri - though only 67 pts - did score 30, but is it fair to expect him to even maintain his current production with the fact that he is turning 35 before the season starts? Wolf did great and looks like a future superstar, but I didn't see him stealing many games - maybe 2? 3? Ditto with Vladar, especially towards the end of the season where i felt he did steal a couple. I have Wolf taking a step forward, but it still isn't enough to keep the Flames out of the basement on his own - no goalie can do that.

There are too many old vets filling important roles. Not enough prime-aged players pushing the pace - will Frost and Farabee improve, or continue to disappoint, at least offensively?

I like the push from the young kids, but again, they are not playing key positions. Zary, Pospisil, Coronato and Klapka on the wing. Plus there are too many forwards, and I expect Conroy to trade one away to make room for Klapka.

On defence - if Anersson is going for futures, as well as Hanley not being re-signed, that will create a big hole. Parekh stepping-in will help offensively, but he will have hiccups defensively yet. We will see who (or if) Conroy gets to backfill. Vladar leaving will leave a larger hole than most expect. Cooley and/or Say will most likely be a step down. I think you want to give Wolf somewhere between 55-60 games this upcoming year. The backup will need to play at least 22.

For a team that was playing on the margins all year, I see them as a very likely team to take a step back this year. I think that was the plan last year, and I think Conroy is sticking to that plan. Removing a couple of vets from the lineup gets this team really close to a full-blown scorched-earth rebuild. That's how I see it. I just don't see out-working the opposition as a sustainable outcome. That's why I don't really feel much angst with HAVING to get rid of Kadri. I think Coleman likely gets traded NEXT off-season - that's when he enters the last year of his deal. Andersson this off-season, Coleman the following off-season.

Kadri next off-season may happen, or may not. Either way, I am not really sweating it as a poster who is supportive of a rebuild. I argue that this is a rebuild, only that Calgary out-performed expectations not unlike 2015.

My fave city is San Diego, but northern California is absolutely gorgeous too. If you're a nature person, it's really the place to be. Big Sur, Redwood Forest, Lake Tahoe.... some of the most gorgeous places on Earth, but I digress.
