Can't see Andersson landing a top 5 pick without adding someone like Wolf or Parekh which I'm not willing to do, but I think that's also fine. I think folks will be underwhelmed with the return just like they were with the Markstrom, Hanifin, Tanev, Zadorov, Toffoli etc. trades. But I have have in faith in Conroy.
You could probably get a decent return for Coleman with retention but nothing spectacular, likely a pick or prospect. I'd also probably look to package Pospisil in either of these as he fits the bill for a playoff contender.

Coleman and Andersson both 50% retained for Robertson?!?
Dallas adds 2 pieces and saves $3M in cap and the Flames add a star player for now and long term?

I guess it depends on the person. My expectation is a first and a 2nd or 4 th or fifth of the first with a b+ prospect. I think first team to come to conny with a good center prospect the deal is done. Same as i expected for hanifin and tanev so i was underwhelmed with some of yhe returns it certainly wasnt out of line considering Hanifin basically engineered his destination.

What about Coleman 50% retained and the 18th pick for Robertson? Dallas is in cap trouble this offseason and they gave up a lot of futures for Rantanen. They get massive relief and Coleman comes in at $2.45M for 2 seasons and they add another prospect in the range where they have been able to hit on guys in the past like Harley and Johnston.
Robertson is over a point per game in his near 400 game career and is still in his prime at 26. Not the perfect target for the Flames by any means as he is a left shot winger but I wonder how aggressive Conroy will be at making the team better?

Not sure, look at the return Tanev obtained,
Yes Coleman had a big role, however if he is moved at next years trade deadline that is 5 years since he won a cup

Tanev has never won anything and he has had injury issues.
Also he was getting a 1st but the Flames liked the prospect better.
Contenders will pay.

Robertson is a lot better than Cheechoo but I do suspect he'd struggle to crack 70 points in Calgary.

Robertson = Cheechoo is just a bizarre take. I get that he's maybe not a play driving superstar like MacKinnon...which in a lot of CP opinions means a players is useless...But he's had 4 consecutive seasons of 79 or more points and in 3 of those was the top PPG player on the team. It's not like he's a 50 point player who suddenly got to play with Joe Thornton and blew up. He's definitely a top line scoring winger.

Yeah Roberston is not Cheechoo but he's closer to a 35g/80pt then 45g/100pt guy.
You dint want him to be your primary offensive threat but he's a really good secondary piece.

Just met Ryker Evans at my day job. Would love to get that player in a Flames jersey someday. Really nice guy.

The calculations for pick value goes something like 2x 25 OA picks = 10th OA pick, and 2x 10th OA pick = top 4 pick. So a 4OA pick has the equivalent value of three or four late 1sts. Not gonna happen.

I will address your post because it was asked respectfully unlike the other two Muppet trolls on here. He has made it very clear to the media but more importantly to the Flames in exit interviews that he wants to stay and see this through, similiar to Kadri. I am sure Royle can confirm this. He also spoke to the media on garbage bag day about how important being a Flame was to him, how he wants to stay, and how he thinks the future is super bright.

I don't think he would accept a trade even to Dallas, he gets to spend half the year there and can retire there afterward. He is very committed to being a Flame.

I love Blake Coleman and he's been a great Flame. But this team needs space for young players on the wing and he's not the age that this team needs to be building around. He's 33 turning 34 and the Flames should be trying to recoup value for him.
He only has a 10 team no-trade list so even if he wants to be here it's not 100% his choice.
Flames should be shopping him even if his personal preference is to stay.

I agree, from what I have heard though as far as next season goes both the Flames and Coleman are going to start together. Now if the rails come off who knows but don't expect him to move this offseason.

This makes a lot of sense. Andersson should be dealt with in the summer so he and the team can have more certainty. I think Conroy and the rest of the veteran core want to see if last season was a building block or a one off where the buy in and vibes carried them further than they ever should have been capable.
I think Conroy will look to add a piece or two either short term free agents or if he can acquire a long term young piece like Rossi, Byram or whoever else is available in that age bracket.
If this season goes poorly I think Coleman and Backlund might have to contemplate what they want to do. Kadri as well but with 3 years left after next year he could still be into seeing things through.

Coleman would be a great fit for Dallas.
They should be going for a player like him, and a trade could make complete sense for both teams.
