Rossi is too small. The Flames need to be cognizant of that now we are leaning on the smaller side and soft.
You can look at the 1 centers on the previous champs all big and gritty minus Point but he is thick gritty and fast.

I'm not sure Rossi will come as cheap as some believe. He is going to cost the Nucks some serious assets imo.

Not sure I would be rushing to give away assets for him.

Yeah, I agree on highlight packages, but it's the variation in that highlight package that intrigues me, plus his tendency to go to the front of the net, plus his solid, compact build, plus his consistent growth in the AHL and in the NHL over the last four years.
My one concern isn't his height, but it's that he disappeared down the stretch when Kaprizov was injured (which has a big impact on fantasy!). But that's why the Wild aren't willing to sign him long term and are looking to trade him at what should be a discount.
He's worth a mid to late first and a B+ prospect.

That's the concern. He could get bid up by a team like Vancouver and then the risk is too much for the package.

I don't think the Flames are in on Rossi. Maybe they are trying to drive the price up for the Nucks. I do think there will be multiple teams interested though. He might be small but he had put up pretty good numbers and he is young.

#1 centers are pretty much unattainable on the trade market. You need to draft them with high draft picks, minus some really rare outlier cases.
If the Flames aren't tanking and plan to get better in the near term it is going to be incrementally by adding quality depth throughout the line-up (either through trade or hoping our own picks pan out). A sum of its parts kind of build where you can roll four lines.
I don't think Rossi is the solution, but he could be part of it... potentially, depending on what other changes are made.

What do you think the cost is?
I think if it was futures value it would be 1st + x2 2nds.
But I'm not sure they're interested in a futures only deal.

I don't think his value is that high. If I am the Wild I am asking for Jonathan Lekkerimäki

From Minnesota sources, it really isn't. They want the first and a B/C level prospect. Willander and Lekkerimaki are currently not in the discussion

A 1st and 2 2nds is a massive overpay.

Conroys actions will tell us. The fans and media and can link us to every mid player available. He had said he will keep trying to make us younger but not just for the sake of making a move. That is what Rossi is. It’s settling.

And is not what they're asking for. Again, Minnesota is essentially giving Rossi away right now. They literally just don't want him.

So they'd be asking for honzekr equivalent?
I would do that in a second.

It’s been reported they are not looking for a massive return at all. They want assets to use to flip up upgrade him. Proceed with caution helping a rival.

Ok, well I trust legit insiders more than whomever you are talking to

Michael Russo of The Athletic reported earlier this month that the Wild were at a standstill in talks with Rossi, but general manager Bill Guerin said he was "not dying" to trade the 23-year-old forward.
Russo reported that the Wild made Rossi a five-year, $25 million contract offer during the season, which was rejected and countered with a bridge counter that the Wild turned down. Minnesota has since offered a shorter-term deal, which Rossi's camp is yet to counter.

I would without question give up our 18 pick this year and another B level player. At best you hope that 18 pick turns out to be as good as Rossi.
