That's not how that works. If you have a faceoff violation after the initial center is waived out, you can be assessed a penalty for delay of game.

NBA finals game 3 tonight. The scheduling of that series is even worse with the days off between games.

Yeah that's the rule, but they rarely call it, especially against McDiver. I am too lazy to research, did any team get called penalty on that?
