Bennett is a playoff god. That all started with that huge hit which made them apprehensive and then they turned over the puck, leading to a breakaway, and a silky smooth finish.
For a moment there I must have blacked out because I swear I saw 2004 Iggy dominating a team physically in the playoffs and scoring big goals.
Was that actually our boy Benny?! Conn Smythe baby!

What a shift. Bennett steamrolls Podkolzin, follows it up by stapling Klingberg to the boards. Next he goes down to Leon, who hears his footsteps and just sits down, then Benny breaks up ice to take the pass for a clean breakaway and buries it
Hilariously as the Cats get possession and breakout, there is an Oiler stopping at the bench for a change

This is a total guess but I'm guessing some sort of injury impacting his overall core. Like some sort of abdominal tear or something like that.
IMO part of it is that he's kind of levelling off from his career season in 22-23. He was always pretty quiet in the playoffs for the Flames and not being a great skater probably makes it a little more difficult for him to shine in a series like this.

He was always quiet because he was always hurt. He would start the playoffs shot out of a cannon and inevitably hurt himself a game or two in and that was that.
This past year he started the 4 Nations shot out of a cannon and, you guessed it, got hurt. Problem was the season was only half over. He sat out a bunch but clearly wasn't enough. I'm legit surprised he has never learned that lesson.
Also I can appreciate all the celebrating from last night but let's not jinx this or get ahead of ourselves. Until that team is dead, nothing's been accomplished. (not intended for you EE, but the group at large)
