I remember Yankee Doodles across the street as well, but I’m old so that may have been before your time.

Around that time there as also Republik and Hollywood North on 9th, and the Tiki Tiki Beach Bar at the Holiday Inn (now the Comedy Cave)? Dickens was always there.

Got escorted out of the Fox by police after sparking a joint in the courtyard.

Electric Avenues best night will always be after the Cup win in 89
Close second was being in Coconut Joes and watching Ben Johnson win gold in 100m...and like my head, it hurt the next day when he didnt actually win

Is that the one that seemed like a crazy ticking timebomb of a fire hazard? i.e. would be impossible to evacuate people out of there?

Ya, Crazy Horse had that brick tower that when you examined the brick work, realized it was probably one swift wind and a base hit from crumbling like a game of Jenga played by Micheal J Fox(I'm so sorry, Micheal).

That's the one. I had just moved to Calgary and living with some Saskatchewan friends in Erlton. Off we go pubbing. My buddy gets in an argument with another guy about the basketball shooting game. Both agree to go outside to settle the dispute. Up the stairs we go. My buddy leading and the other guy behind him and then a bunch of onlookers. Half way up the stairs my buddy turns around and kicks the other guy in the head. Fight over. King's Horse had $1 pints of Rickards Red and a piano. I don't drink Rickards Red anymore. My brother was visiting from Grande Cache and off we go to Electric Avenue. Back in the late 80's and early 90's GC was a tough town. He got in a fight with Kent Warnock and did very well. I don't remember exactly but I think Kent W. was a bouncer at one of the establishments. Fun times.

They were both fire hazards, difference was 3 Cheers was a Bro crowd, Crazy Horse was older.
But Crazy Horse often had candles burning around the bar.
Crazy Horse was a great bar

The last time I was at CJ's wasn't too long before it shut down, and someone in our group got scrappy and a knife was pulled on them. I was outside at the time and didn't hear the kerfuffle, but it was enough to have me cross the street to the Fox. Then it became a Daycare.
Then I got bounced from the Fox...
Look, it was probably all Surferguy's fault anyway.

Crazy Horse was literally the first bar I spun music at. Damn cave dj booth at the back. Had to play a super long song to even try and make it to one bathroom they had. Played there and Senor frogs every weekend. So much fun back then. Almost no rules compared to anything today.

Lol! I used to work with a couple guys that bartended there. On weekdays, where did they work? Oh yes. Greyhound.

Nah, I think it was your fault. You were late, and I kinda stepped out the door to see if you were out there. I slipped on the step, and the bouncer confused my poor coordination with inebriation. I could not change his mind, so I got bounced. Looking for you. See? Your fault.
I actually don't even remember if it was you I was waiting for or not, I was pretty wasted.
