Bit of an odd rant there. While I agree that the final products never end up looking as good as the renderings (just look at the convention center across the street for proof), it's kinda weird to get worked up about "value engineering" when we don't even have any insight into the details or materials of this building. You may not like the design forms you see here, but I don't think that's what will dictate whether it will end up being a quality development or not. A simple box can look great, or like total crap... it all depends on the execution.

Some dude waited 36 hours to be first in line for a Krispy Kreme donut.

I heard they were giving away 1 year free donuts at the opening so maybe lining up for that?
Still not even remotely worth it but then again I remember lining up for an iPhone 3 so...

I don't think so. I believe the place is available for lease but they may not be actively advertising that

I remember pissing on that raggedy tree out front waiting to get in because I was with my old filipino friends and they made us wait way longer than most for some reason. 25 cent vodka slimes. Long Island Iced teas if fancy and Molson Goldens.
What was the place next door in the basement? Three Cheers. There a lot. Graduate to the one across the street. Kings head or horse.

How did they enforce a 'Mothers Prohibited' policy?

A lot of birthday parties there presiding over everyone at the head of the table. Think I have one of them glasses. Bet the pizza tastes like crap but it sure didn’t back then. Cola and root beer for days. A maze to take your obligatory 14 pisses with friends to the washroom shooting the fahq pit of all patrons.

I didn't make it into Three Cheers the first time I tried, because I was pretty ripped and the bouncer was just about to hand back my ID and asked "what's your sign?" I replied "I don't even know my own sign, how would I know his?" At which point he grinned and pocketed my buddie's ID. D'oh!
The last time I was at CJ's wasn't too long before it shut down, and someone in our group got scrappy and a knife was pulled on them. I was outside at the time and didn't hear the kerfuffle, but it was enough to have me cross the street to the Fox. Then it became a Daycare.
Then I got bounced from the Fox...
Look, it was probably all Surferguy's fault anyway.
