I saw one of the actors that "died" in this show in another show perfectly alive and well

FAKE!

They are doing the exact opposite of milking and there was more than enough content for this season to be ~13 episodes long, IMO. An incredible amount of stuff is getting left out.

Huh? Outside of small changes they’ve made, they’ve hit every single plot point up to the same point in the story in detail, some in significantly more detail than the game.

Watched the season finale last night. It was good, but I hate that they ended on a cliffhanger. Now we have to wait 2-3 years to see it get resolved, which is super annoying.

Anyway, I’m still enjoying the show, but I feel like the overall quality dropped a bit with this season.

We must have played a different video game.

I don't think I've seen a single review from even anybody who hasn't played the game that thinks a 7 episode season was dragging it.

I didn’t say they were dragging it, I’m just not sure what you think they’ve left out since they’ve covered virtually everything that occurred up to the same point in the game + stuff that wasn’t in the game (some of which was filler to round out/explain certain story elements).

They’re for sure milking it, especially with talk of two more seasons. The game just ain’t that long and there’s already filler as it is.

Normally I'd disagree with you, but when we're waiting 2-3 years on Productions, it does become rather tedious.

As for S2 I'm easily not as invested as before and I actually felt it was kind of weak. I dont know what the crux of the matter is, it just didn't have the same feel as S1.

As much as people might be annoyed with it ending on a cliffhanger that was the right time to end the season with what season 3 is going to focus on.

To me, besides the episodes not being as strong (I mean, how can you top “Long, Long Time”?), it was a bit of a downer not having Alberta as prominent.

I just found that it wandered a lot and felt fairly aimless.

So to start, I know nothing of the video games.

I just found Ellie to be...a little beyond unlikeable. I dont know whether it was the acting or the fact that she appears to be certifiably bi-polar? When its a character you're not really liking I just...the whole hot and cold anger with Joel I found annoying and further, I really just couldnt care less about the whole 'coming of age' angle.

Essentially...what are they doing?

Its like the whole 'Ellie is immune' plot-line just got tossed. Its still there, but they're not really doing much with it. Its just 'there.'

And then the whole 'Revenge for Joel' element didnt make much sense since she spent most of her time treating him like crap.

It just felt directionless. There wasn't anything to really latch on to as opposed to 'here are a bunch of things happening.'

So there were definitely some times where I was thinking:

- Girl goes on insane revenge mission to kill 1 person in all of post-Apocalyptic war-torn Seattle, this either wont work or she'll surely be killed.
- Girl walks into dark warehouse, surely she'll be killed.
- Girl who cant swim steals a boat, surely she'll be killed.
- Same girl who cant swim miraculously washes up ashore in a PARKA, FULL GEAR, A BACKPACK and wearing COMBAT BOOTS...surely she'll die.
- Oh the religious nuts are going to slice her up, surely she'll die.

Rinse and repeat.

It got a bit tedious after a bit.

^^ I think some of the confusion might be because of how they were jumping back and forth in time a bit. It may have helped if Ellie and Joel looked a little more different to highlight that, so their personalities didn’t seem so all over the place.

Ellie is very, very good at hitting the X button on the controller quickly.

We are obviously watching the version of the play through where the player doesn't #### up. I'm not sure it would work well otherwise.

The way she walks into dangerous situations with no second thoughts is maddening.

And the one time she decided to sneak around she used a bright flashlight and grunted the whole time.

It's the writing they have done for the Ellie character. For somebody who hasn't played the game, there would be nothing redeemable about her as a protaganist.

The 60% tanking in viewership is pretty easily explainable.

I don't know what game you played but but part of the problem with TLOU2 is by the end of the game there there were no redeemable characters including Ellie. This was always going to be the path if they stayed close to the source material. Nobody should really be surprised when the first season that mirrors the first game which was universally liked/loved is also universally liked/loved and the second season that mirrors the 2nd game that was very divisive is also pretty divisive with viewers.
